You don’t have to worry about LeBron against the Lakers. You need to worry about the refs.
Yeah, you do have to worry about LeBron and AD and a much better supporting cast than they had last year. I mean of course everything depends on their health but if they're healthy, I still think the championship goes through them as defending champs.

I am. The Nuggets have just been getting the Thrill and Dozier right for the last couple of weeks. They have a deep team, with a lot of threats on offense and they are very athletic on D. It's a better match up than the Clippers in theory but who knows what Playoff P would have done against us.

I think we have a chance against the Nuggets but our eight man rotation might not be the smartest idea in the mile high city. Everything depends on if we can keep Dame going like he has been lately, how we handle the trap and if our new found determination on defense translates into an actually good defense. I hope we get the job done and I hope we go on an improbable run to win it all. Go Blazers!

I think Denver, out of all top-4 seeds, is the least capable team of implementing the stop-Dame defense. That's a big Portland advantage....if I'm right obviously

refs gonna let Campazzo scratch and claw him incessantly, don't worry

Yeah but LBJ and the Refs are basically a package deal. I mean LBJ is certainly still great on his own, but at the end of games, he is going to get the calls after crying for the other 45 minutes.

I think that Will and Aaron Gordon would be a pretty decent pair of guys to throw at Dame near half court. I guess we'll just wait and see.

If the "enough is enough" got this team playing the way they did after, I can only imagine that five days with some actual practices for probably the first time with Norm will really have these guys playing like one unit... or so I hope.

the guy who really helped slow dame down from denver last time was Gary Harris.

and a bit of torrey craig sprinkled in there.

this is big

Blazers last 12 games are 10-2… simply amazing. It’s like the annual late Blazer runs. Could be 12-0 easily.

Good one! I don’t think they give a fuck about the Blazers. This is all about avoiding the Lakers as long as possible. They wouldn’t see the Lakers til the WCF now. The Blazers are the least of their worries.
If you would have said they rested players and made sure they avoided injuries because they didn’t care what team they played in the first round I couldn’t really argue against that. They are very good. But the try to say they are positioning themselves three series away seems like a huge stretch at very best.
The Clippers better not look past any western conference team.

100% right. Rondo terrorizing Dame and absolutely nobody to match up with their two all-star wings. Thank God they avoided Clippers in Rd 1. At least they have a puncher’s chance against the Nuggz (though it won’t be easy).

Exactly. It’ll be tough for sure. But with Murray out, we have a legit shot

Did I suggest it was a good strategy? We all know what happened to the Nuggets two years ago when they tried to avoid the more difficult side of the bracket and got bounced by Portland. The Clippers could very well lose before the WCF, but it doesn’t change the fact that it APPEARS they are trying to avoid a matchup with the Lakers for as long as possible.

The Blazers are so lucky that the Mavs are run by idiots. The Mavs tanked in order to play the Clippers instead of winning and getting to play the depleted Nuggets. Instead, they get the full squad Clippers while the Blazers get the depleted Nuggets. The Mavs are idiots and whoever made the decision to tank should be immediately terminated from employment. The Blazers are lucky the Mavs are such idiots. They would have been worse off against the Clippers than the depleted Nuggets. Did I say the Blazers are so lucky that the Mavs are so stupid?

They were tanking to avoid the Clippers actually, no one thought the Clippers could out tank OKC but everything is possible

In theory yes, but Lillard advancing is good for NbA ratings, Dame marketing much bigger than joker. So I expect refs to go for us but you never know this league is rigged as hell

Solid finish to the year! Blazers finish the regular season at a season-high 12 games above 500. It's always nice to go into the playoffs on a hot streak.

Let's beat those Nuggets in the first round!!

What do we think the major cause for such a drastic difference is? Roster make-up? Improved schemes? Luck?

Mavricks did not tank. They got shot out of the gym. Twolves scored 16 3s by half time. Mavricks shot ball almost as good from 3 but they had too many turnovers and started shooting good to late. Def did not tank

I would totally be with you if I thought the biased reffing came from the top of the league down but it doesn't. The reffing has to do with the players the refs have decided earn the calls, or flop or whine the right way or whatever the fuck it is. That being said, whatever the fuck it is has never benefited Dame despite the fact that the guy's Q-rating is through the roof but they sure do love giving Joker calls like he's Muggsy Bogues instead of a giant dancing bear.

You're saying if the Mavs won they wouldn't have played the Clippers? I'm not following this.

Taking out DJJr and putting in Powell. DJJr can have some spectacular blocks and jump out of the gym, but his one-on-one defense sucked. Powell is solid every play. And he makes good decisions on the offensive end.
