To some of you Salary cap guys, why did they let Rolo go, to begin with? I realize they wanted to start over and get young, but he was like 26? I'm glad they ended up with Nurkic, but I've kind of never heard a good explanation on the Lopez stuff, I always thought he was a solid center.

Bulls offered him $54M. Didn't make sense for the Blazers to pay him more than that to anchor what was believed to be a rebuilding team, especially since we had Meyers who was presumably fresh off his breakout series against the Grizz, and had just traded for Plumlee.

It was the Knicks that signed him to that contract. RoLo didn't play well his final year here after coming back from an injury (I believe a hand injury). He was pretty much a non-factor towards the end of the season. His contract doesn't seem that bad now but that much for a role player when the team was rebuilding wouldn't have been the best route to take.
