How did Isaiah Thomas go from being so good to so bad?

Curry and Hood are the best backup guards we have had in a very long time imo. We need them one more year at least, I don’t see Simons/Trent picking up that slack.

And I know Hood plays a lot of 3

If IT is gonna guard C.J., we should post him up.

"Play Simons a ton", "Play the young guys", "It doesn't matter", "we have 0 chance to advance so just develop"...
Ah. But we already secured a playoff spot. And we’re not gonna win a Championship. I liked us a lot at full strength but we’re pretty fucking far from that. That’s all

I hope we can re-sign Hood, Kanter, and Curry. These guys are very good for us.

We need to get outta the first round or we will never be able to attract free agents

Turner, Harkless, a 2020 1st, and ATL right to swap OKCs 2022 1st for Portland's for Taurean Prince.
2nds and Meyers to a team with cap space.

That'd give us about $15M to resign two of Curry, Hood, and Kanter. Hopefully the cheapest one would resign for the room exception. Let Aminu walk. Sign Rolo for minimum.

Lillard / McCollum
McCollum / Curry
Prince / Hood
Collins / Layman
Kanter / Lopez

Pick n Roll in transition is so much harder to trap than halfcourt. Dame gets an open floater.

Bah. We already don’t and can’t. None of that changes unless we at least get to WCF but without Nurk it’s totally impossible
Look up the definition of impossible. You use that word too loosely.

Also, never pegged you as this type of poster. Relax man.

@BonesJones
So I have my opinion but I'm curious about yours.
Do you think Portland came into the game with the gameplan of sagging off Plumlee. Kanter just had several lapses.
Or
Do you think Portland came into the game with the gameplan of playing Plumlee straight up?

I say this with fully understanding it's easier to see the court when the defense is playing off the offensive player.

Taurean Prince? Nah. Cheif is our best defender. We need to keep chief.

"Stotts calls the perfect inbounds play"...

Lillard popped to halfcourt, got ball, and isolated...

I don't think they gameplanned to sag. Portland doesn't show much attention to opposing player skillsets when gameplanning their defense.

You realize that Prince is cheaper than Chief will be, and the money saved will help us keep Curry/Hood/Kanter?

Yes it does. There’s gonna be a huge difference in our negotiation leverage if we do or don’t win a first round series.

If we lose, we have to sell free agents to come here even though a Lillard-led team has never won a playoff series against a non-injured roster.

If we win, we establish that we’re a top 4 team in the west even without Nurkic - we can sell this to top free agents.

We don't even have money to resign all of our own guys. We're not going to land a good free agent from another team this summer.
