Should the Blazers rest players for the remainder of the season once they clinch the playoffs?

Soccer managers always encourage their players to lay off the drugs and drink but increase the promiscuous sex. So that's always an option.
Well Layman can already hit one shot in 90 minutes so maybe we need something different?

LOL, more excuses. He is now 1-11. Does that happen all the time, too?

BNM
He got the ball inside against a big man with 2 seconds on the shot clock and got blocked twice. Should he have just not shot, taken the shot clock violation, and saved a couple FGAs? If he'd been doing that all game, he'd be 1-7 right now.

He's also rusty, having not played an NBA game in weeks, so he gets a pass. He's taking good shots and most are very close (hitting inside of the rim).

You love your stats but sometimes you struggle contextually.

Our bench and third stringers are beating the full strength spurs....damn

Pop must be missed that he's losing to our 2nd and 3rd stringers. But man...what is the deal with Jake Layman? I thought he had a lot of potential, but after his great first game, he's been garbage. 1-11...his shot looks gimpy. On the season, he's only shooting 26% from 3, which is abysmal for a spot up shooter. Small sample size granted, but he made 6 of his 11 3 pointers on the season in his first 8 minute stretch.

I'm not concerned taking into account 3 things:

1) He was a 2nd Round pick. That's like rounds 6 and 7 in the NFL Draft.

2) He's likely nervous.

3) It's his first actual game played as a Starter in the NBA.

No matter how the second half turns out, I am so proud of the guys playing tonight. They are playing good defense and giving the full -strength Spurs all they can handle.

I would love to see a win and to laugh at The Spurs and the The Texas Turncoat!

Not only is a small sample size a bad reflection of ability, but it's also a reflection of the fact that he's barely played in the NBA, so he hasn't been able to build any sort of rhythm.

If he'd been playing 30 minutes a game all year then he'd obviously be shooting a lot better than he is now.

They won't.

They haven't even retired Roy's number, which they should have by now.

Nobody's worn 7 since he retired anyway.

Seriously, you act like this is an isolated situation. Layman is now shooting .139 FG% since Thanksgiving of last year. You're always making excuses for this guy. He got regular minutes as a starter for 9 games in the D-League and didn't shoot well there either. For whatever reason, the guy just can't throw the ball in the ocean, but it's not for lack of trying, whenever he gets in the game, he just jacks up shot, after shot, after shot. Unfortunately, that translates into miss, after miss, after miss.

Right now, this guy is a black hole who can't make a shot to save his life. He has to eventually snap out of this. No one can shoot this bad forever. In the mean time, he may want to consider passing once in a while.

Leonard + Vonleh = 9/11
Shabazz = 4/10
Turner + Aminu = 2/11
Layman = 1/11

Except he didn't actually start.

Every player in the NBA is an elite basketball player. Every one of them. Games like this show that. What most of these guys need is an opportunity. I love watching the young guys playing for a job on the big stage.

Still can't believe Denver didn't make the playoffs. All that talent.... At least Philly has the injury excuse. Denver probably will always suck. Be glad Stan Kroenke isn't your owner.
