Malcolm Brogdon is a huge part of what they do, so tonight wasn't the best representation of who the Pacers are.

yeah, I know Brogdon was out. He could have made a big difference for them tonight

point is Indiana isn't very good and the Blazers needed some luck to win, at home. That probably doesn't mean anything but it's not real encouraging

I find it encouraging that even with how bad Dame has played, Portland has had the chance to win every game (with the exception of the 1st Clippers game). If Dame played this way in previous seasons, Portland would have lost every game in blowouts.

I don’t think we needed luck to win; I reckon we just needed more Simons, and less Dame, and it would’ve been the blowout it should’ve been.

Four times from 2012-2015 he’s gone 60 for 169. Never 18 for 83 from 3 but twice 19 for 83.

it's hard to watch but he's gone thru similar before. Not for a few seasons though

I don't know if the abdominal injury is an issue or not. Sometimes, he doesn't seem to be moving right, but other times he shows the same speed and explosion he always has had

it could be a combination of a new ball, a very short off-season, and the new foul rules. Over the last 2 seasons Dame has averaged 7.5 FTA/game. This season, it's 3.5. Some of his shooting rhythm may have been because of lots of FTA's, and that's been cut in half

I think he's in his own head right now, and that's making it worse

whatever

I'm just not going to celebrate a home win over a 3-7 team that was missing their starting PG and their 6th man

Everyone needs to put their arms around Dame, and let him know that they’ve got this. He doesn’t need to push through whatever he’s dealing with. He can rest, and come back when he’s ready; safe in the knowledge that everyone else will carry the load. It’s OK to be human Dame.

I don’t think many people are celebrating this win.

...and yet he keeps shooting. I get he wants to 'shoot himself back into a grove', but there are players right now who give them a much better chance to win. Set them up, get them the ball, and stop doing your best MeJ imitation.
When he's open, he needs to shoot. But he does need to stop forcing shots.

Doesn't he always kill us?
I don’t know if he always kills us, but he certainly fits the mould of the type of player that always kills us. Scrappy point guards with a good midrange game.

Yeah I don’t know either. All the things you said is what I’m thinking too for possible causes or a combination. The FT’s is pretty worrisome too as that’s a big source of free points. He will be significantly less efficient losing 3 FT’s a game even if he gets back to normal shooting-wise. It’s not like he’s not getting to the rim anymore and he wasn’t drawing cheap fouls before.

will repeat what I said earlier, the starting group may be our worst "effective" (any stats on that Wiz?) unit, I have seen enough of them and the other combos to want to change them
Last season, they were a +13 per 100 poss. In playoffs, they were +30 per 100 poss. That’s how bad our second unit was last year. Problem with starters this year is Dame.

Yeah it IS about being smart enough to realize you are hurting your team and putting aside the ego and ADJUSTING
To be fair, Dame only take 13 shots. If Kobe, AI, Jordan etc started 2-13 they’d just shoot 20 more shots and get to 25-30 points anyway. Dame isn’t doing that for better or worse. We’ll he did vs Cavs.

Good win! It is so weird seeing dame not take over in the fourth quarter when we need to score. What is happening with dame?

It's great that I never give up on Dame after 8 or 9 games and use common sense. :) everyone will love Dame when he does well again. And I'll giggle.
Common sense is not giving up on Dame but understanding that the player right now is not doing what Dame can do healthy. You keep using that "Common Sense" statement but fail to see you are not using it at all. It's like you are so blinded by your fandom that you cannot see the faults. This man is hurting the team right now. What he did last year or 7, 8, 9 years ago means absolutely nothing.

im not sure he is us hurting us as much as he is not elevating.
11 assists is still eleven assists.

ive long been of the opinion, the number one offensive weapon cant be the point guard.
Do we really need Dame to score if he gets others to?

We won last night aNd he scored 4 points.
He can be our best player without being our leading scorer. Much rather see him play more like chris paul than Allan Iverson….and i think we would be better for it.

Dame will go off tomorrow against the Lakers. Going to be the snap out of it game.
C'mon now. I love the positive vibes thing but we also got to stay in reality. People all over have been watching him even before it came out he was playing injured. They all were saying "He looks injured". This injury is not going away by the 2nd game of a B2B. Actually this is exactly the kind of game i would expect him to sit out.
