On a serious note, we need to start trusting Nurkic more, especially late in games. Those miracle shots are cool but Nurk needs to develop that low post game. He can get to his spots against anyone, all that needs development is his patience and decision making. That only comes with opportunity and time.

Not sure I agree. Nurk was used well tonight. You saw what happened when he got over confident and tried to score a few feet out of his comfort zone (I think it was his last shot) ....he threw up a wild shot that was not close. I don't trust him yet in crunch time if they know it is coming.

But I agree that the 3 ball at the end of games is not the answer either. A screen would be nice.

A screen would just allow teams to hedge, I like the idea of our guards going one on one in those situations. Not sure I like the idea of shooting a tough three when it's not needed though but I'm not complaining tonight.

Walton is a good coach. Those were two excellent drawn up plays at the end. More than I can say about ours.

The warrior system is working. They play 10 guys hard all night. Their D looked very good after the 1st quarter. I think their bench is better than their starters.

1st QT our flow was really good that helps us get a good lead after that the flow was bad. Blazers guards really have a tuff time getting into a offense due to they like to hold ball to much and it really bad with Turner. He not quick with the dribble that's make the offense very sluggish. The off screens are just terrible and that makes it tuff for players to get ball off those screens. Now the defenses side we play in spurts again the 1st QT was pretty good after that it was spurt here and there. Now Dame Nurk CJ had big scoring night. The rookies got some work they both did some good things. But right now what I see we got 3 good players and the rest is really borderline players. Now we are young and hopefully I see some progress throughout the year.

Can someone please explain this defensive alignment because I honestly don't understand. Thanks

Damn, this place is a bit nuttier than normal this season it seems........ I told you to watch those unrealisticsly high standards you lay on these guys preseason. Setting yourself up for a long frustrating season instead of just enjoying watching our boys play each night.

Ask Dame, he'll tell you which one HE likes.

Didn't you tell the story that you talked to him personally and he likes Lillard time because it's about his family? I remember that distinctly because thats the story I remember every time I hear Lillard time.

I was so sure somebody would move up the thread "I'm so tired of Lillard" because of the game winner, honestly i'm suprised nobody did that.

If you need some heroics from Lillard for a home game against the Lakers you know you're bad.

Kuzma looks like gold, we passed on him and Donovan Mitchell to draft Swanigan and Collins, fuck Olshey.

We gonna lose that game we are fucking terrible at the moment. And the really bad things is, we played against Teams we should have beat. Imagine how the Warriors, Rockets or Thunder gonna beat us.
You almost had an accurate prediction but the last 5 seconds dampened that!

Shoulda gone to the hoop tonight. Lopez was subbed out and they had no rim protection

So then we can get beat with a three at the buzzer again?

I don't like the alignment.
It was to stop corner 3's. However Lillard got caught on a back pick from Ingram and died. He needed to get over.

The alignment has to be coaching.
I think it's poor coaching, so whomever came up with it needs to sit the fuck down.
But it's coaching.
No player would come out of the timeout and set in that alignment without being told to by coaching.

I understand what it was supposed to do but gimme a break.

They seem to be in a sort of zone defense around the 3pt line, but it's absolutely terrible. It's on Stotts
If that is what the set looked like, any other coach would have called time and set it right. A half second more and we would have gotten burned.

This is the kinda thing I'm referencing when I say Terry isn't gonna last the season. We're seeing just stupidity on both ends of the floor. Terry's coaching might be falling on deaf ears, or he's just slipping altogether. About a minute prior, there was a 3 or 2 fast break after a steal that got Dame free throws in which our spacing (with Dame/CJ/Nurk leading the break) was just horrific. No fundamentals whatsoever.

Who is CJ guarding?

Absolutely no one! With 0.7 seconds left, there is no time to close out. You have to stay with your man and be in his space. HORRIBLE defense by both guards. Why Stotts keeps playing them both in game on the line defensive possession just speaks to his stubbornness and lack of defensive acumen. He got testy last night when asked about the defense. Really? From a team that had almost zero 3-pt threat, you let them have a layup line to the tune of 55%.

If Lonzero doesn't pull a complete doughnut, Portland would have lost this game as well. Thank goodness they didn't but that was not a well played game in the least.

The more I look at that play the more I see what the idea was. Guard the three point line. In that situation we should've just taken Nurkic out and put Turner in. Forget trying to tip the inbounds pass just guard the three point line with 5 dudes.

We must start Biggie. Vonleh doesn't even try to score and Collins is still too raw. Biggie is ready NOW. I don't get why he isn't starting? I would start him even with Aminu healthy.
