The competitive nature of this game is a testiment to the Spurs drafting prowess as much as anything else.
Their front office has the team stacked to the point that their 5th through 12th men can compete at an NBA level.
They have always drafted extremely well, especially in the later picks.
So much so I have often thought the best way to draft is simply to pinpoint who the Spurs want, then get them first.
That's what Portland did with Batum.
Seems to have worked out ok.
