My excuse for the 21-0 run was that the team wanted to make Rudy feel more at home, so we took a siesta at the end of the 2nd quarter and the beginning of the third. Halftime simply isn't enough time to properly rest if you're a Spaniard.
I'm not saying he didn't show me something, but I think it is premature to annoint him a better PG than either Blake or Sergio based on one garbage time performance.
I think it is. That's what really matters right now; this game had potential to be a big win, but really, we lost and it's just a loss that tells us we're not superhuman. So we lost to the champs. Big deal. Lots of teams have lost to them this year.
The stakes for us were low, but the potential reward was high. You lose and you're just another 14-7 team. You win, and you're kings for a week. I think it's pretty easy to pick yourself up after this game and punish the next team. We did it after our last couple losses (Chicago, anyone?).
I feel pretty lousy for the loss, but not about the team. Off night, great opponent. Shit happens.
Since I'm in the mood to scapegoat, I choose to blame Frye. He was wretched tonight.
I didn't follow the game thread while the game was happening, but it seemed to me Roy (and the team) was never right after his 1st half hammy grab. Nate might have been holding him out the 2nd half for precautionary reasons. I thought it was so national media that the announcers were completely focused on the feelings of Boston's bench player in the 4th rather then the conspicuous absence of Portland's best playerRudy played a much worse game than Roy yet he is in at the end.
Great game guys, I know losing sucks, but losing to a championship team, losing to the best defensive team in the league is nothing to be sad about.
You still will make the playoffs and hopefully at that point Oden will be a bit more dominant so that you have a chance of advancing.

One of the things I like most about Bayless is he appears to be a complete dick. Our teams needs to be a little less nice.
Garbage time is racking up your minutes against another team's reserves, Bayless was still aggressive and taking it to the hole when Rivers put his starters back in. It's a very small sample size, but I don't think that attacking mentality is going away any time soon.
i sort of agree. I noticed his teammates liked what bayless did out there and liked his fearless/toughness which might look like a complete dick. I agree the blazers need that sometimes. I still think eventually he would be the prefect pg next to roy.

Fine, but that wasn't the point I was addressing, is it?
I'm hoping that's the explanation that Nate gives and not that he was "sending a message" as many here seem to think Roy needed to have delivered to him.
Well bad game by the Blazers. Hats off to Boston, they beat us good again. Not much else to say.
At the end of the year this loss will count as much as every other win/loss. We're 3-1 on the current road trip, let's just put this beatdown behind us and move on to the next.
Losing isn't fun but the beat goes on... Rome wasn't built in a day... Can't win 'em all... What doesn't kill us makes us stronger... Umm, etc.
Well I guess I only addressed half of your point (the less important half now that I think about it).
I agree that we don't know if he's better than Blake or Sergio, but it was at least nice to see that he's not just welded to the bench because he sucks complete ass.
I don't think Nate was making a statement to Roy at least I hope not.
Btw, did anyone here Quick on 1080 THE FAN right before the game?
He was talking about Nate and who Nate is thinking about putting Batum on. Apparently Nate said they're going to guard whoever guards our guys.
Question is: Why not just put your best guys on who you want them to guard? Why let the Celtics dictate things?
thats a good example of why I rarely tune in here for game threads as things are unfolding. Many here are Kookoo for Coco puffs and especially so during the game... it's like they've refused to take their medicine and are on a lost weekend babbling manic nonsense with others who are similarly afflictedI'm hoping that's the explanation that Nate gives and not that he was "sending a message" as many here seem to think Roy needed to have delivered to him.

I've tuned in daily with this group for 10 years now... believe me I know. You don't have to tune in here during games to see that a lot of us are off our medication. We're a hugely bi-polar fan base.

Rudy has a very weird pattern in games this year. He's either scorching hot or ice cold
