GAME THREAD: KNICKS @ BLAZERS - 11/25/13, MONDAY, 7 PM, CSNNW

Worst National Anthem . . . EVER!

Entertaining game, though . . . I love games with all these victim teams . . .

Robin got homered.... at home. I thought the RG would be a place for him to build his nest.

Thing is, several times he forced defenders to throw up airballs in order to avoid being blocked, but those don't officially score as blocked shots (even though it led to the same result).

Pretty much how it went. Blew them out early then coasted. It was kinda nice, actually.

Cool. That's what good teams do. What do they say? First you win, then you become good? We may be becoming good.

Reading some of these recaps and listening to the Knicks' radio shows, it's absolutely hilarious. All the focus is on the offense and how Melo supposedly is the problem (when he's the only one trying out there!).

They let Dame get two wide open threes with no one within ten feet of him. And then let him get three wide open drives to the lane in just the first half!! This team plays 0 defense. And no one seems to care about that end of the floor.

What a mess.

I wish we woulda played a little more D in the third so guys could have gotten some rest in the fourth. But considering how much our guys were coasting after the second quarter (ie, not even sweating), I suppose those minutes played numbers are slightly deceptive.

Melo is one of the top 2-3 scorers in the world. When he gets hot, like he did in the third, there is not much you can do. I guess we could have doubled him further from the basket, but then that leaves someone else wide open.

It is a game of runs. Plus I don't think we were deep enough offensively last night to blow anyone out. More rest would have been better, but I am fine with double digit wins too.

If he wasn't such a tool, I'd love to have him on our team. Putting him with Aldridge and Lillard would be lethal. Unfortunately, he's also one of those guys that completely shuts down offensive movement, he's a malcontent, and I don't see any way he would ever want to play here.

Funny how NY has essentially rebuilt the Denver Thuggets from a few years ago (Melo, Kmart, JR Smith).

#NBA Tues. EFF: LeBron James (26.1), George Hill (25.3), Carmelo Anthony (25.3), Nicolas Batum (24.6) -- Boxes: bit.ly/194jFRs

Ya Melo's a ball stopper. It's not like he's averse to passing, but the way he just holds on to it for 10-15 seconds in each possession takes away from all the cutting and misdirection in a play. If he made quicker decisions, it would be so much more helpful for his team.

A lot like Crawful and more recently, Mo Williams. Lillard does it at times, but definitely not as much. Need to break that habit, maybe watching TP film will help.

The guy is one of the best pure scorers in the league. It's too bad he's such a douche nozzle.

It actually boggles the mind to think of how good he and his team could be if he played smarter. Like someone said, Melo - ball hog - douchey + LMA + Dame = absolutely ridiculous

If he would buy in, having Melo with Dame and LMA would be unstoppable. I'd even say he would be our #1 option on offense. There's just so many risks though.

#1 - He would be unhappy here. I don't see any way he'd be happy in Portland.

#2 - There's no guarantee he would buy into the system. He's a ball hog, pure and simple.

#3 - We have really, really good chemistry right now, and it would require a fairly massive trade to bring in Melo. It could destroy everything we've built.

Agreed on all accounts. I file it under the "that's a shame" file and move on.

Really funny last light, as soon as Melo started distributing the ball after collapsing the D the Kicks went on a run and came within 7. But back to his ball hoggin ways and the team flat-lined.

Well, and since Batum would have to be included, we would be trading a guy who seems to be just coming into his own, for someone who is just now at the very peak of his game. It's all down hill from here for Melo.

I saw the same thing. I think the Knicks announcers actually pointed it out. SMH

Melo reminds me of Derrick Coleman. All the talent in the world but just can't turn it into an effective basketball player.

Imagine if Melo had been drafted by the Spurs and learned a team system from day 1. He might be the second best player in the league.

He would have forced his way out eventually. He has one of the biggest egos in the NBA. He used to think he was better than LeBron.

It's hilarious seeing all of these ego-fueled stars forcing their way out of some pretty good situations in towns that they didn't think were big enough for them only to end up on shit teams like Melo and Deron. Hopefully some of the younger guys can see that bigger isn't always better.

Getting much sexier. A 40/60 paint-to-outside split isn't amazing, but it's a step in the right direction.

Those 6 "x's" on the left side, though? Those aren't designs. He's getting pushed off of the block and taking fadeaways, or not getting deep enough to make a post move. When you're making >50%, fine. When you're making 0%, guh.

The @Trailblazers aren’t just winning, they’re winning big.

They now have an NBA-high 8 wins by at least 10 points this season.
