NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

<h3>Bulls, Nets square off in season opener</h3>

<div class="pre">Chicago (0-0) at New Jersey (0-0) 7:30 pm EDT</div>

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- In the wide-open EasternConference, both the Chicago Bulls and the New Jersey Netsexpect to contend.

The Bulls visit the Nets on Wednesday in their respective seasonopeners.

The Bulls are poised to contend this season with their entirenucleus returning from a team that reached the conferencesemifinals last season. Forward Luol Deng is on the verge ofbecoming an impact player after averaging 18.8 points per gamelast season.

Helping Deng with the scoring load will be guards Ben Gordon -21.4 points - and Kirk Hinrich - 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds.

The backcourt will be the key to Chicago's offensive attack atleast early in the season, as big men Tyrus Thomas, Ben Wallace,Andres Nocioni and rookie Joakim Noah will all likely miss theseason opener with injuries.

The Nets re-signed Vince Carter - 25.2 points - in the offseasonand will open the season with the "big three" of Carter,Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd all healthy.

New Jersey reached the conference semifinals last season beforebowing to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This season, they have the benefit of inside help in the form ofveteran center Jamaal Magloire and 24-year-old Nenad Krstic, who missed the final 56 games of the season last season aftersuffering a torn ACL.

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Payback is a bitch right? Can't wait for this game, the Nets are going into the season overhyped (as usual) we struggle against them due to the size they have in their backcourt but I expect a win.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Overhyped? If being rated to finsish outside and barely inside the playoffs is overhyped, I'd hate to see where you think we should be.</p>

No Kobe = good considering Ben Gordon is no Kobe. Hopefully we start off atleast no injuries, fights or air balls.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

If you watch TNT Charles Barkley and some others have picked them to come out of the East, so yes overhyped.</p>

Having one lone voice picking us as conference champs is just about the right amount of hype. Please name these mysterious "some others."</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

I wouldn't consider a former professional ball player's assesment as hype, but just an honest opinion. I'd say 90% of the media is against the Nets man, hate to break it to you.

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Kenny picked the Celtics. haha</p>

GO JET!!!!! lol</p>

wtf man???</p>

It's the Nets that the Bulls are playing tonight, not the CELTICS (the C's rightfully own the "overhype"title this season).</p>

Why do we need a Sportsticker thread? Just wondering...</p>

People can follow along with the scores on here...putting it all in one place so you don't ahve to go different sites to follow the game if you can't see it, talk about it, etc.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

I'd like to try using this game thread for tonight's game. It's in both Nets and Bulls forum, and there should be enough posters to outpost the sportsticker bot, and then some.</p>

You guys up for it?</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

So what's the point of having a preview team then? Talking about the game in two separate threads is just annoying.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

The "preview team" should be posted in this thread, IMO.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Ok then starting Friday, the previews should be posted in the Sportsticker thread. That's cool.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

No Mikki Moore is good for the Bulls.</p>

That Halloween intro on YES was pretty good.</p>

Bulls will probably win this game, unless Gordon gets traded at halftime.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Interesting is Tyrus Thomas starting for the Bulls. Noah is not on the 12-man active roster... I wonder if Noah might have gotten the start if he were able to go? Also, I wonder how much of a set back it is for Noah to be hurting so much since being drafted. Also notable is Gray not starting

With how bad Noah played in preseason, he has to be behind every big on the depth chart sans Viktar.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Hinrich with an early foul. He's going to be posted up by Kidd all night.</p>

</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Bulls careless with the ball early. Nets pop the ball loose and Thomas commits a foul.</p>

RJeff misses a dunk, and Gordon pullsup on the fast break to hit the J. NICE!</p>

Joe Smith almost tipped in Vince's miss

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Nets surely want to see Wallace take those fadeaway jumpers in the lane every time.</p>

</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Seems like Thomas got the start and played like 2 minutes before Smith came in.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Gordon is getting some plays at PG. No problems so far, but nothing to write home about, either.</p>

My impression so far is that the Nets are a better team than the Bulls, though we haven't seen the 2nd stringers yet.</p>

Hinrich with his 2nd foul, could be trouble.</p>

1st timeout, 5:42 left. Bulls down by 1.</p>

Re: NBA: CHICAGO (0-0) at NEW JERSEY (0-0)

Nets look way better than last season, now that Krstic is back.</p>
