Gary Payton II Trade to the Warriors (1 Viewer)

There is an official NBA clearing house that is supposed to contain all the updated and pertinent medical information for every NBA player. Illimatic posted the link earlier. The Warriors would need permission from Portland and Payton to access that information. The crux of this might be if the Blazers posted the information about the injections there, or concealed that information

If the Blazers concealed that information, not only is it underhanded and fraudulent, it's just plain stupid because it's absolutely certain that inormation would come out one Payton talked to the Warriors
**********************************

something else: I keep seeing that Payton failed the physical. My question is what is involved in the physical? Do the Warriors just review the medical information provided and have the team physician examine Payton? Or do they perform an MRI?

Man, the league needs to shut these fucks down. Make em pay up another pick for this nonsense.

It is a big deal. It's really like tampering. They're polluting the player pool with lies. If it's found that this is untrue and someone on the Warriors put this out there, it's certainly grounds for forfeiture of a draft pick, a fine, and a suspension for whoever made this allegation.

Forget forfeiture. This is compensation. To us.

I'd wish that but major sports organizations don't usually do it that way. Usually they just dock the transgressor. They don't compensate the aggrieved party.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski:

"The NBA could punish Portland with a fine and loss of draft picks if an investigation were to discover "a failure to disclose relevant information" on Payton's abdominal injury that required offseason surgery and had him miss the first 35 games of the season."

All of this is just bullshit until we actually hear something from the Warriors or the league. Right now it's rumors and conjecture from the media. There would be no reason for this sort of thing not to have a named source attached to it if it were sourced.

According to Woj the Warriors informed the league, they think we withheld info. Thats throwing us under the bus true or not.

so, I guess we'll have two threads on this maybe more. So this goes here:

Holy shit! This is crazy. So it seems there is a communication breakdown somewhere. What I want is when the Warriors just go through with the trade tomorrow, that there is an investigation into them on how any misinformation about our franchise got out. If it was due to the Warriors either acting maliciously or with neglect, they are the ones who should have to give up a draft pick for hurting our reputation.

Yeah, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the Warriors will waive the physical tomorrow.

Wasn’t Woj a big Neil guy? Is he trying to hammer us for revenge? Or am I reaching lol.
I would think probably reaching. I think with Woj, you're his guy as long as you provide him with value. Neil is no longer a GM, so can no longer provide any benefit in a relationship to Woj, so Woj has no real reason to go to bat for him any longer, IMO.

Like I posted below, if the Warriors can't prove that we did withhold info then they should be the one losing a pick.

The NBA and Teams are not exempt from bs mis info by social media like any other org or individual. I love seeing slander law suits against those trying to profit from it.

I agree. The vendetta stuff is something Jaynes or Canzano might do. Probably not Woj...he has no axe to grind. However, Woj can certainly put out only one side of a story

earlier in the day it seemed like most of this was pivoting on the Toradol shots and their disclosure. If Payton's agent is correct, those shot didn't happen

so that would leave other medical information

I truly don't understand how this could possibly hold any water. It wasn't a secret he had abdominal surgery. It wasn't a mystery why he missed so many games. When he finally came back, every time he played it looked like he was having issues. He spoke about it continuing to trouble him & playing through the pain in the press. Last season he was a dunking machine, this year he's got 3 in 15 games... his PER was 17.8 last year & this year 11.5.

How in the world could the Warriors claim to not know he wasn't right?

agree seems like a stretch.

Wish Woj would present in his reporting that if GS cannot prove they can be penalized. Seems like he just reporting what he's been told but I would think he wold know, like you do, that if they a wrong they pay up.

What bothers me mostly is if they call off the deal because he didn't pass physical it makes us look real bad since all the reporting on it.
