Big finish here as I don't see TB coming back from down 2-0 against Florida. Almost a must win for them, not quite, but almost.

Long way to go in the third period but hoping we get the first OT game of the playoffs with TB v FLA.

Avs and Preds even up their series. I don't trust Helle as I said. The guy is great in the regular season, but still has something to prove in the playoffs IMO. And Vancouver is in trouble without Demko, that is a big loss for them.

In the East, Florida winning in OT is going to make it very difficult for the Lightning to win that series now. It is not over, but hard to see them winning 4 of 5. 86% or 89% of teams that go up 2-0 in a series win the series, it is very difficult to come back when down by two games.

do not underestimate Tampa they have proven time and again they are a playoff battle tested team

Tampa isn't on the same level as Florida is. They have little depth.

Interesting that the Av's are making a goalie we can't score against look like shit.

The Avalanche are highly talented offensively. The issue they'll deal with in this series is whether or not their goalie can stop enough shots for them to win. The Avs are going to score no matter who is in the net.

Big picture I agree on Tampa, but this is going to be very tough. They are good, but lack depth, and they are playing a tough, deep, talented, experienced team. If they come back from down 2-0 in this series that will be quite the accomplishment. I am rooting for them though.

As for the Avs scoring, they are the highest scoring team in the NHL, and will score on any team as stated, but I will also add, soon to be two-time Vezina winner Hellebuyck is not the same goalie in the playoffs, and from where I sit, he has a lot to prove in the playoffs. That series, along with Vegas/Dallas and Toronto/Boston are great series to watch and enjoy. I am very into all 3 of them. Two games tonight from those series, looking forward to watching.

Excellent games last night:

Vegas goes up 2-0 on the Stars. A lot of people on ESPN and NHL.com picked the Stars to make the SCF, and they are really up against it now. Series is not over, but it will be really tough to come back and win it.
Boston takes back control of the series as the Leafs come up small in a big spot again. And for the record, Montgomery needs to stay with Swayman in goal, forget their stupid rotation.
And give the Kings credit for winning in OT and tying that series up. That series should go 6 or 7 now, and the Kings are average, but the Oilers are not a deep or complete team.

Quick aside, we are lucky to have Igor in goal. You watch some of these other goalies play, and you shake your head often. They let in some terrible goals, and it shows we are very lucky to have a true # 1 like Igor. Go look around at some of the goalies these other teams are starting in the playoffs. Talbot, Skinner, Samsonov, Georgiev and the list goes on.

Igor is one of the best however those other teams also have average defense. We complain about our d-men but I will take our d over any of those teams.

Agreed, we have a good combo goaltender and D, and are lucky to have it.

And what a terrible decision by Roy to bench Varlamov. He is the reason they made the playoffs; it was not his fault in games 1 and 2, and Sorokin has allowed 2 very poor goals tonight as the Isles are on the verge of being down 3-0, soon to be swept.

I think the better team won anyway, but Roy should get an assist in the Canes win with his decision in goal tonight. Isles and Lightning just about done, now let's see if we can match what the Canes and Panthers have done and go up 3-0 on the Caps. It would be very un-Rangers like, but we are the much better team, so put the hammer down big time in game 3.

Great night of playoff hockey with three series tied 1-1 on the schedule outside of the Rangers game. Will the Preds, Avs, and Kings take advantage of their home crowds and take the lead in their series.

Colorado explodes in the 3rd period to take a 2-1 series lead, playoff Hellebuyck in full effect. Vancouver and Edmonton with road wins to take back home ice and control in their series.

As for today, I am very curious to see what the Stars do on the road down 2-0 at Vegas. As the top team in the West, I expect them to play well, but Vegas is very good, and excellent at home. Tough task for Dallas.

The Bruins need to start Swayman and forget their goalie rotation. I would have started Swayman in game 2, but you have to start him in game 4 I'd think. We'll see what Montgomery does.

And the Canes and Panthers go for sweeps. I am rooting for the Isles and Lightning to stay alive, as difficult as that may be.

The Avs and Oilers are just scoring machines. Both are very fast teams that have great puck control and passing.

And it is no coincidence they have the two best players in the league IMO, MacKinnon and McDavid. Those guys are so fast it is scary. If you watch them, it's like they play at a different speed and level than the rest of the players, even the other very good players on the ice. It is great to watch.

Last time I checked, Trouba knocked McKinnon's head off. That's what you do to players like that.

God dam icelanders..can you at least pretend you are playing game 7 against the Rangers and win a fucking game

Barzal wins it in double OT with a Kreider like deflection. Game 5 Tuesday in carolina

Good, finish off Washington tomorrow and let the Canes play an extra game or two.

Happy the Isles won. Big picture for the series doesn't matter, but making the Canes play another game and prepare for another game is a good thing. Let's finish the Caps tomorrow night and get some extra rest.

TB came out fired up and passionate helped by the return of Sergachev, but Florida has battled back to make it 4-3 TB after two periods. Can TB survive the 3rd and be the second team to hold off elimination and avoid the sweep. If they can avoid the sweep, the Rangers would have chance to be the first team to advance to round 2 with a win in game 4.

As for Vasilevskiy, he has let in some soft goals, and also made some great saves. Kind of weird, but usually he is rock solid, so not to his usual level.

Just saw updated odds, Canes the Cup favorite, Panthers second, Rangers third.

TB stays alive. It is very difficult to sweep a team. Up next to try and sweep and be the first team to advance to round 2, is the Rangers. If they watched today's games, they know it will not be easy to do.

Two good games coming up, Toronto trying to pull even with Boston at home (with Nylander back - and Swayman smartly in goal for Boston), and can the Dallas get back into their series at Vegas.

Toronto lays a total egg against Boston. If they lose, I think they need to trade one of their stars upfront and add some D and a good goalie. How many times can you try it with Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Nylander a questionable D and goalie before you make a bigger change.

Dallas with the big OT win last night in Vegas to get back into the series. Only one team still has a chance to sweep, not easy to do in the NHL.

Four more big games today starting with Jets/Avs, looking forward to that one.
