We just need to drill our bigs to look for him as he cuts. I could see "Meyers to Hendo" happening a lot if they get their timing down. Plumlee was a good passer at Duke, so maybe some love there too.
The guy shot almost 46% from 2 pt range. That's not too bad. That's the same as Demarcus Cousins who stands under the basket. Also better than Russell Westbrook, Bradly Beal, Terrence Ross and Demar DeRozan.
I think the plan is to have CJ come off the bench. They want to use him as a backup PG.Honestly, I think he starts for the Blazers at the 2. I think that's why he was acquired. I've been second-guessing myself because so many fans here seemed to think he was an afterthought, but I think CJ is better served coming in as a spark off the bench and Henderson is far superior to Crabbe right now.
Have you ever thought that maybe having such a shitty fielded team effected his stats? He was their 2nd best player, and wasn't really known for shooting the three. It's so much tougher when you are the only wing that can create your own shot. The league average from 2 is 48.5, and from 3, it's 35%. Henderson only shoots 30% from 3. Not saying he's terrible, but he is below average.
Derozan and Westbrook are notorious chuckers though. That's why I hated the Derozan to Portland ideas.

Yeah, 33.6% over three years is certainly something you can live with from an athletic slasher. And, it's not clear that a change of offensive scheme may help a bit. I can't see him shooting worse in Stotts' system.
I'm warming up to Henderson starting and using CJ as our super sub, based on Hendo's length, slashing, and my assumption that he's a better defender.
CJ will eat up second string lineups next year.
Someone other than me needs to compare his shooting percentages to the players we have lost.
Wes and Nic and LA.

Leonard and Henderson should play a lot of minutes together. Leonard is probably our best 3 point shooter. He will draw his big man out of the paint, or make him pay with a 3. When the big guarding Leonard does leave the paint that will give Henderson more room to penetrate and play his game.
Dame’s long ball threat will also help to take some of the defensive paint pressure off of Henderson. Plus most teams will need to guard Henderson with their best defender, or, lose him on the drive. This will take D pressure off of Dame.
I can see Dame, Henderson and Leonard being an un-stoppable scoring combination, with D specialist at C & SF. This roster just might work.
No, and stop trolling. Is Henderson is a top 10 SG?
I went back and looked at his You Tube highlights. He really does have some incredible dunks.
I think we may be selling him short. At the very least he will be fun to watch. Here are 49 dunks from 2013-14.
Most were a little boring because they were so easy. But it sure would be nice to see some "easy" baskets for a change:
Henderson seems to have a good floater from mid range.
I hope Dame has that better developed this year.
It is one of the best weapons that was very effective against us last year.
Possibly best in league. Cant think of any better. Is Henderson is a top 10 SG?
Agreed. I thought this when the trade first happened and I haven't seen or read anything that makes me think otherwise. It just makes far more sense to start Henderson and bring CJ off the bench. It gives Dame another proven starter (and ball handler) to work with, and it lets CJ dominate the ball when he's on the court. It gives the team much more balance. (And I just don't think CJ will ever be a starter - at least not with a PG like Dame.)Honestly, I think he starts for the Blazers at the 2. I think that's why he was acquired. Henderson has a different kind of athleticism, and is a different style player, from Batum -- And more importantly, from Wes.you know, not only does he finish like i always screamed for batum to. he also moves without the fucking ball like i always wanted batum to. factor in what he's getting paid and i think this was a steal.

I'm not sold on this guy. His ORtg has been lower than his DRtg for his entire career.
Last year, CJ was a 103 / 105 (O / D)... not great by any stretch of the imagination. People talk about CJ/ Lillard being an awful combo on defense.
Last year, Hendo was 102 / 106. He's a career 102 / 109.
Would his 82games on/of court numbers help? Last year, Charlotte was basically even with their opponents when Hendo played, but -7.2 when he didn't. His absence made their defense over 4 pts/100 worse, almost identical to Matthews'. Also, his PER allowed figures were actually better than Wes', and were even better than that the year before.
New situation, new teammates, new opportunity for Hendo. Especially playing alongside Aminu, I am not worried about his defense.
Don't players on bad teams generally have bad O/Drtg? If a player doesn't have good teammates around him he will be a lot less effective than he would otherwise be.That does help a bit yeah. But starters always look good if their replacements on the bench suck. Who was backing up Hendo?
