Wisconsin man who helped US troops in Vietnam stands up to armed carjackers in Wisconsin on Memorial Day

Vietnam veteran stands up to armed carjackers on Memorial Day

Three men armed with guns confronted a veteran in Milwaukee and demanded his keys but took off after they were told no.

A Wisconsin resident -- who had war zone experience helping U.S. troops in Laos during Vietnam -- turned the tables on a trio of would-be carjackers in a scary Memorial Day incident caught on surveillance camera.

Saylee Vang stepped out of his home in Milwaukee around 9 a.m. and was heading to his garden when three young men suddenly emerged and tried to rob him at gunpoint. Video obtained by FOX6 shows one of the men, a gun visible in his hand, demanding keys from the 66-year-old.

"Scariest thing would be losing my dad right there. I saw on the video they actually had a gun pointed at him. I'm glad he's still here though," said Yimleej Vang, Saylee's son, told FOX6.

Vang said he turned the tables on the group, however, chasing them away -- before returning to his vehicle to pursue them. One of the suspects shot at his vehicle four times, with one of the bullets striking a neighbor's car. The 66-year-old was not injured.

"Very startled but he said he was in the war, Vietnam War," his son told FOX6. "It doesn't really faze him. He looked at them and said, 'Today is not my day to go.'"

Vang served in Laos, helping U.S. troops from 1971 to 1975 until coming to the U.S. in 1979, according to his son.

The 66-year-old turned over the surveillance footage to police. He said two of the men had weapons and appeared to be in their teens.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the incident.

Ohio girl, 11, credited with saving her little brother from abduction by man with condoms in pocket

By Nicole Darrah | Fox News
An 11-year-old Ohio girl is being credited with saving her 6-year-old brother from a potential abduction — by a 33-year-old man allegedly found with condoms in his pocket.

Julianne Moore and her brother, Hayden, were playing outside their house in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn neighborhood on Thursday when a man approached them.

Pedro Luyando, 33, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to abduct a 6-year-old boy in Cleveland, Ohio. (Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office)

"He started to talk to us, but we really couldn't figure out what he was saying," Julianne told WJW. 'It was like gibberish so we really didn't think much of it."

She said the man initially walked away but soon returned, grabbed her little brother's hand and tried to pull him away.

"When he tried to grab my brother, I knew like this was serious. This was not like any handshake or anything," she said. "I just grabbed my brother and went into the backyard because there was no time to panic. You just have to go with it."

Joshua Moore, Julianne and Hayden's dad, told the station he confronted the man to find out what happened. When the man started walking away, Joshua Moore called the police.

Julianne, for her part, said she was just doing what her parents taught her: always look out for her little brother.

"My heart dropped because I know that I saved my brother. He would not be here right now," she said.

Investigators arrested Pedro Luyando, 33, in connection with the incident, and charged him with abduction, according to Cleveland.com. Police allegedly found two condoms in Luyando's pocket.

Ohio boy, 8, who saved himself and sister from kidnapping is praised for quick thinking: 'This little guy is a hero'

By Travis Fedschun | Fox News

Little boy helps sister escape from moving vehicle during attempted carjacking

Raw video: 8-year-old Ohio boy hailed as a hero for helping his 10-year-old sister escape from an attempted carjacking and jump from a moving vehicle.

A police department in Ohio is praising the actions of an 8-year-old boy after he saved himself and his sister from an attempted kidnapping on Thursday when their grandmother's vehicle was stolen.

The incident happened in Middletown, Ohio after the children's grandmother had gotten out of the vehicle while taking another woman into the emergency room at a hospital and 24-year-old Dalvir Singh jumped into the driver's seat.

That spurred the boy, identified by Middletown Police as Chance, and his sister Skylar to take action as the vehicle sped away.

"This little guy is a hero. No question," Middletown Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw said in a statement. "He pulled his sister out of the car with no concern for his own safety. That is incredible at his age and outstanding work by Officers Kirby and Engleka to find the suspect and take him down without incident."

As the vehicle began to take off, Chance opened the door of the vehicle to escape as his sister attempted to jump until Singh grabbed the girl's hoodie, according to police.

"We both started screaming and then my grandma went out and grabbed a hold of the car and he just kept opening and shutting the door trying to get her off," Chance told FOX19.

Her brother was eventually able to grab a hold of her and pulled her away from the 24-year-old, sending both children tumbling out of the car in a moment that was captured on surveillance video.

"What do you see here? If three heroes was the answer then you are correct!" police said in a Facebook post.

"Chance made sure that he and his sister Skylar got out of their car when it was stolen," police said. "They weren't about to be taken by some stranger!"

The grandmother of the children, 69-year-old Nita Coburn, made a valiant effort to save the kids by trying to grab onto a door before being dragged. Coburn did not suffer any serious injuries after the incident, according to FOX19.

Singh, who police said is addicted to heroin, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of kidnapping, felonious assault and grand theft.

You know how this thread is bullshit?

Being a gun owner doesn't automatically make you a good person.

This thread needs to have the title changed. It hasn't mentioned something GOOD anyone has done.
Nope, only bad things. This thread should be renamed "When Gun owners defend themselves".
Because that's all it's been about. There hasn't been ONE mention of a good thing being done for anyone by a good person. Only stories about gun owners defending themselves.

When the actual TRUTH is that people defended themselves with a gun in nearly 0.9 percent of crimes from 2007 to 2011 (Harvard study)

Instead, I'll change the narrative to ACTUAL good people:

Here's a bad person getting exactly WTF what he deserves:

Louisiana floods destroy home of Christian leader who says God sends natural disasters to punish gay people

A flood has destroyed the home of a Christian lobbyist who preached that God sends natural disasters to punish gays.

President of the controversial Christian group Family Research Council, Tony Perkins, described a deluge of “near biblical proportions” hitting his Louisiana home.

During a broadcast on the group’s radio station, he told how he and his family had fled in a canoe.

Mr Perkins has a long and well-documented history of disparaging gay people.

Writing on the FRC website, he said: “While activists like to claim that pedophilia [sic] is a completely distinct orientation from homosexuality, evidence shows a disproportionate overlap between the two. … It is a homosexual problem.”

He has also claimed homosexuality is incompatible with evolution and has likened it to a drug or alcohol addiction.

He added: "The most important thing that Christians can offer to homosexuals is hope - hope that their sins, just like the sins of anyone else, can be forgiven and their lives transformed.”

Mr Perkins said he has been forced to live off “God’s provisions” following the flood.

In 2012, a group of Muslim clerics joined some Christian preachers in attributing the superstorm Sandy which devastated areas of America, Haiti and Cuba on the wrath of God.

In April this year, the then presidential candidate Ted Cruz appointed Mr Perkins into his advisory council for religious liberty.

Well, it isn't the first time a preacher turned out to be gay.

No, no, he has a point. Us city dwelling Liberals are planning an attack on La Pine. We dislike it because it has everything a man could want.

Reading comprehension failure much? :dunno: Or maybe you didn't actually read the thread as you lied about the content.

This thread is about Good people and how they successfully dealt with Bad people who did Bad things to them or to others.

It is not about gun owners or gun use, but it's a fact of life that guns are the most effective self-defense against Bad people. There would be more Good people alive today had they all been armed when Bad people came along. Sadly, most were not armed. We call those people MURDER VICTIMS, RAPE VICTIMS, KIDNAPPING VICTIMS, PEDOPHILIA VICTIMS...DEAD AMERICANS.

Roughly half of the Good people mentioned here saved other people's lives from Bad people. I'd call that "doing good", but you apparently disagree for some unfathomable reason. I'd also call eliminating a Bad person from society, protecting likely future victims from said Bad person, "doing good".

Not sure why you want to troll and try to hijack my thread about everyday heroes, but better you should just go away now and start your own thread about discredited Harvard Fake data for political purposes.

So you're praying for God to drown all Muslims? You do know that would be a mass murder of epic proportions, and no guns to blame.

There are nearly 3,000,000 examples every year of good guys/gals saving the lives of multiple Americans by using a gun. There is no way to ascertain how many future victims were saved by the apprehension/death of the perps, but it's likely in the tens of millions at least.

In comparison to the few hundred lives saved by law enforcement every year, and the dozens of innocent Americans murdered or "accidentally killed" by law enforcement every year, it's clear who should have guns and who shouldn't.

Your fake news deliberately does not report them, nor is there time or space to post them here.

Keep displaying your ignorance with these constant troll posts though, as it appears you have no other purpose in life.
Maybe you'd like to enlighten us with your vast examples of statistical importance. You do have quantities of statistical evidence, don't you? I'm not talking about onesie twosies grade school style.

I don't pray to your sky spirit, who "inspired" the book, that teaches that slavery is ok...
See, it's OK with the God of Abraham if you slowly beat your slaves to death. After all, they are your money.
Just make sure that they survive at least a day or two after the beating. But try not to knock out their teeth or eyes. Otherwise you may have to set them free.

Exodus 21:20-21 King James Version (KJV)
20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

Exodus 21:26-27 King James Version (KJV)
26 And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

Gun-wielding Alabama granny held wanted man at gunpoint, investigators say

Alabama grandmother recounts story of holding suspected car thief at gunpoint

A gun-wielding grandmother in Alabama confronted a wanted man in her driveway on Monday after he crashed a stolen car near her home, according to investigators.

Marcia Black, 75, said she pointed a rifle at the suspect while her 15-year-old granddaughter called 911.

“I was just calm as can be. I knew I was in control,” the grandmother-of-four told WAAY-TV on Tuesday.

Investigators said Cameron Powers came to Black’s home in Limestone County, west of Huntsville.

“I walked out and said, ‘Can I help you?’ He said, ‘Yes ma’am, I’d like to use your phone,” Black said.

She said she fired a shot in the air to stop Powers from getting closer to her house where two of her grandchildren reportedly were watching from inside.

“I wanted to keep him at a distance. I didn’t intend to kill him. I just wanted him to think that I would shoot him,” Black said.

She added, “He wouldn’t get down so I shot in the air and he realized I meant business, so he got down to his knees.”

Black said he stayed down on his knees until deputies arrived a short time later, adding that when deputies got there, Powers tried to run, but it wasn't long before he was arrested.

“He feared the deputy more than he did my rifle and he jumped up and ran zig-zag right across the field,” she said.

“That’s just amazing to me that I got to witness my grandmother in action,” Black’s granddaughter said.

Powers has been charged with car theft and attempting to elude.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Surveillance footage shows Ohio store clerk using gun to scare off would-be burglar
By Vandana Rambaran | Fox News

Raw video: Drive through worker with gun scares off would be thief

The altercation was caught on camera.

An Ohio convenience store clerk scared off a man attempting to rob a Pit Stop on Monday, and the drama was caught on camera.

A masked man wearing all black and carrying a gun attempted to climb through the drive-thru window of a Pit Stop at a Warren convenience store. A clerk saw the man and grabbed a gun he kept in the store, pointing it at the suspect as he approached the window. The strategy worked, and the would-be intruder fled.

The clerk told police he fired into the air as a warning shot.

The masked man got away and is still at large, but police are not pressing charges against the clerk.

“It’s a bit daring to try to climb through a window to rob a business, but fortunately the clerk was armed and was able to protect themselves from any harm that could have come to them,” Warren Police Lt. Bryan Holmes said to WKBN.

Missouri woman hunts down thieves, steals car back

By Bradford Betz | Fox News

A Missouri woman with no background in police work tracked down the suspects who stole her car, then stole the car right back, according to a Monday report.

Kansas City resident Danielle Reno told KCTV5 that her Toyota 4Runner was stolen while she was at a gas station with her daughter.

A Missouri woman said stole back her car from car thieves. (Facebook/@SheriffClayCo)

“I got out of my car, grabbed my daughter, and my car was gone,” Reno said.

Reno filed a report with authorities, then took matters into her own hands, the station reported.

By tracking purchases on her credit cards and the activity of her phone – which were in the stolen vehicle – Reno said she managed to narrow in on the suspects.

“We stalked this lady for 48 hours. She had no idea what we were doing,” Reno said.

A QuickTrip attendant told Reno the car thieves were on their way to an Applebee’s, KCTV5 reported. At the restaurant, Reno said she saw one of the suspects walk in with her wallet and keys.

“Got our waters and she walked in the door,” Reno said. “I about had a heart attack.”

Reno said left the restaurant and took back her car. She told KCTV5 that the interior of the car had been thrashed and she didn’t want to drive it anymore.

Clay County deputies reportedly arrested the suspects. Authorities told KCTV5 that citizens are ill-advised to conduct investigations on their own, but noted that Reno never put herself in danger

In Ancient Roman and Greek culture thievery was at times punishable by death.

Really?

I think home owner in post 1 was well within their right to defend themselves, their loved ones, and their property :smiley-beerchug:
I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about killing a man when you've got him safely in custody and for killing him for theft.
