OT Goodbye to a Bad Nightmare

Whoopdeedoo. Take the picture thing as a metaphor then...everything else still tracks.

The point is, I think, is this pseudonihilist position is a perturbing cop-out. By just assuming a teenage-angst, counter position to EVERYTHING, you essential offer nothing thoughtful. In fact, you somehow negate meaning, with a who-cares shrug, that shifts only when it is time to be a victim. This seems to be your thing.

Take your flu comment, for example. Sure, it was said early on, but it perfectly summarizes your takes. Just say whateverthefuck you want, whenever you want, then act like there should be no consequences. Over 2 million people have died worldwide (and I'm sure there's something to minimize or call those numbers into question, blah blah blah), but maybe, just maybe a "Geez, I was wrong" should happen, at the very least inside your head, and perhaps a conscious effort not to speak troll so much in the future.

You disagreeing with everything I say doesn’t necessarily equate to me being the one establishing a counter position to everything. Seems we just disagree on most things.

I'm afraid not. Search results don't go back that far. You can see that by choosing "everything" for jonnyboy and it only goes back to October.

Burden of evidence lies on the accuser. Until you present a picture of me maskless at a packed bar looking ‘defiant’ (lol) you are the one who’s full of shit.

To be clear, I wasn't saying you "looked" defiant. I was saying you defiantly posted the image, to push back against all the liberal alarmists. And the burden would lie with me if I were trying to prove something--my bringing up your picture was conversational, the most obvious moment I remembered of you not taking the virus seriously. The actual point I was making was that you spent months pretending the virus was being exaggerated by liberals and liberals were destroying the economy for nothing.

Your most egregious example of my bad behavior is an event that never happened...

You truly don’t see the problem I’m having here?

You claim I'm lying, I don't believe I am. I will admit I can't prove it without going through thousands of posts, which I'm unwilling to do.

But beyond that (moving beyond it not because it isn't important but because we're at a stand-off on that), do you disagree that you spent months downplaying the virus as a major threat in and of itself? Or do you think you considered the virus a really serious health issue for society in the months following the discovery of it in the US?

The Republican Party cannot defend the level of denial and divisive political posturing it's engaged in since Trump took office...thankfully a handful of Republicans have shown the integrity to stand up and speak the truth. Look at what the party has done to Liz Cheney since....it's a really sleazy part of our govt right now.

So funny, whenever I turn on Fox, almost invariably the are whining about AOC. Man that strong, ethnic woman really gets their goat.

What an outdated view of Christianity. It's not Saint Matthew and Sermon on the Mount. To people like this, Christian means hate gays, outlaw abortion, and worship Trump. That's why people like her think they are being persecuted by an executive order banning discrimination.

,
Those beliefs are not sanctioned by my church, the church of three of our Presidents.

Agree. And I am not saying those are the views of Christians generally. But they are views I have frequently encountered.

I am all for freedom of religion. Its great for people to have spirituality in their lives. I believe in many of the principles of Christianity. Generosity, courage, love, etc. But, when it is used as a pulpit to spread hate and division, it goes against its very values.

My mother is Christian and goes to Church every Sunday. She is appalled at how it has been abused by so many and used to establish Trump as a false idol. She doesn't hate or judge people because of their sexuality. She loves them the same because that is what her religion and her heart tells her. She doesn't necessarily agree with abortion, but she doesn't judge others who have them. She is understanding and open minded.

That is what true Christianity as it is written is supposed to be about. Not the mockery it has been made to be. With televangelists using it to preach politics, he hawing about Biden, refusing to accept he was elected and spreading divisiveness among congregants. Or leading a prayer session to exerorcise the will of Democrats as if it is they are Satan's spawn. Like Trumps undoing is some work of the Devil himself. It passes me off. It saddens me to see.

I am not Christian really. I dont go to Church every Sunday. I actually grew up learning about both Judaism and Christianity. My mother was adopted by a Jewish family and raised as such. She converted to Christianity later on, but we always celebrated both Jewish and Christian holidays.

I have learned a lot from both religions and am glad for it. I think there is good in all religion. It pisses me off to see religion used for ill gain or to divide.

I'm surprised at just how many reputations are still afraid of Trump and his base. He still has so many followers.

The Republicans could end or greatly diminish Trump's hold on the party by unanimously coming out against him. But, they would have to possibly sacrifice their re-election. They aren't willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of their party.
