how can he swim in all that oily water?

in all seriousness, pardon my ignorance, but the "wetlands" are all along the gulf coast of LA, right?

The Wildlife preserves are (mostly), but really everything South of I-10 has tons of inundated areas ... and yeah with all of the oil refineries (especially around Port Arthur in the West) the water is fucking gross

I drove from Lafayette to New Orleans a while back, it was a cool drive. interesting landscapes and small towns. its a fascinating ecosystem really.

It was kind of a blur, we had 63 plots scattered all over the state we had to evaluate in 6 days (but yes, parts of it are "pretty" in a kind of "Land of the Lost" way.
