GRIZZLIES @ BLAZERS GAME THREAD – 03.12.2013, 7 PM -KGW

Conley destroyed Lills tonight. :(

I don't know if I'd say that. Conley shot like shit, and the Grizzlies (mostly Bayless) just couldn't stay in front of Lillard. He was getting to the rim at will.

Even with as physical as the game was, the Blazers and the Heat are the only teams to score 95+ points against the Grizzlies since 2/12... that says something...

Down by 6 with under a minute isn't really padding your stats. Its trying to pull out a win.

It was down 7 with under 15 seconds. They never had a chance.

Regardless, who cares. All that mattered is that he ended with 27/7.

Actually make that 30/7 for Dame. Dang.

EDIT: NBA.com says 30 ESPN 27. I don't know what to believe lol

Its awesome to see that even with Memphis throwing everything they could at him that Lillard is still getting his.

A hard fought 27. He'll be an AS next year at this rate.

Interesting numbers -

Grizzlies - 31 assists, 39 FGM (assists on 80% of baskets)
Portland - 17 assists, 32 FGM (assists on 53% of baskets)

That's largely because Damian put the offense on his shoulders for most of the game, but that's still a telling disparity for such a close game.

Dame is such a beast. But his six game 50%FG+ streak ended tonight. Just needed one more make. 8-17

There were so many wide open shots that didn't go down. Just shows how good a defensive team Memphis is. I envy them

120 minutes between LMA/Lillard/Batum ... that's just unfair to those guys...

I'd imagine a lot more of those open shots would be falling if these guys had the luxury of a bench...

This game was also another reminder that Hickson should probably not be in the long term plans. He reminds me of a Carlos Boozer with less offensive polish. Solid, but he'll probably hurt you almost as much as he helps you.

Dammit Magspeed, that's 2 losses since you hit town....

My takeaways from the Garden:

- Something is definitely wrong with Nic. The guy is still great for hustle plays, but it's like he's lost all timing and comfort. I wish he'd sit until he's got whatever the issue is healed/straightened out.

- Damian Fucking Lillard. Can't wait to see him in a playoff game.

- Bayless is still fearless and streaky, but it looks as though his T-Rex arms may have lengthened a bit. Good for him.

- I wish we had Marc Gasol.

- Mags is a tireless heckler, but he couldn't pull anything together for Conley's free throws at the end of the game. The best he could do was "Conley! I love you, but please miss!" That's not going to get it done, Mags, and I hold you partially responsible for the loss. (But thanks for the ticket -- had a great time!)
