Time is ticking. There is a big elephant in the room. You name it. This needs to be done. I believe if it isn't done soon, he becomes a restricted free agent next year. We all know Lamarcus does not take well to being slighted, and in my book, this would be nothing but that. If we don't sign him by the deadline for extension, my money is this is the last we have seen from him. Don't pull a Chicago and burn the bridges with your talent. Lock him down. Please.

OH MY GOD THE SKY IS FALLING AGAIN!!!!! Calm down, even if he doesn't sign an extension this offseason, which still has a month and a half left, he isn't going anywhere. People like you are puppets to Canzano that think the world is ending and love calling for people's heads when you only know half the story.

lol... I'm just as worried as I was about Roy's extension:

Not at all.

In all seriousness, it seems negotiations are taking longer because the contracts the players are signing (Roy, JP) are laden with stipulations for the guaranteed monies. Thus, more talking points between the agent and KP.

I tell you what, for the life of me, I can not share the same concern you have on this. Mainly because common sense tells me that there is no way in hell with the goals the blazers share from the top down they are going to botch this.

This will get done. Just because it hasn't yet. Doesn't mean it won't. LaMarcus Aldridge is way too important to the blazers long term success. They know this. They won't botch it.

I was in Office Depot this morning and I saw LA there...he was buying packing tape!!! I think he might be getting ready to move out of Portland!!!

I work at the airport, and I swear I just saw LA getting on a plane to Dallas! Farewell my friend!

Well said my East County friend!

1. Who says I was excited, I just said get it done.
2. I never read Canzano. I follow my team.
3. You don't know me, don't pretend to.

A lot of you are a lot more optimistic than I am. I just want to see the Blazers avoid making the same mistake that Chicago did. They thought with several of their players they would be better off waiting and seeing what the free agent market offered them and match. What they ended up doing, was pissing off half of the talented players on their team and ruining their chemistry. Chicago went from up and coming, to struggling and needing Rose to help turn it around. That is all I want. To avoid that bullshit.

Several of their players? Gordon and.....??

which talented players are you referring to? I don't think the Bulls of a few years back are a good example to hold up at all as they weren't that good collectively or individually. Only Deng (who has sustained injuries since re-signing) rivals Rose as a talent... the rest I'm pretty meh on.

I never said you were excited, there is just no need to state what we already know. It's not a topic that deserves conversation until Oct 31st arrives.

You may not read or listen to Canzano but you do react just as he does. If you followed your team you would know that it took several weeks to get Roy's deal done who was priority number 1 and also that both sides have made progress and agree on the value of LA but that it gets complicated because of the declining salary cap as well as other small details eg bonuses for performance etc

3. You don't know me, don't pretend to.

I may not know you, nor do I really care to but it looks like I am in the majority right now:

It's like everyone that wanted to say that KP has had the worst summer thus far, why does it matter how you start? I'd rather go 41-41, lose the first 20 games of the year and win the title than go 82-0 and lose in the finals. So what if you missed out on Turkoglu and Millsap and you didn't sign Roy to an extension on July 8th? By the time the summer is over he will have signed Miller, for a bargain, Roy to a long term extension, Pendergraph and Cunningham, 2 rookies that you can let develop, Howard, another savvy veteran who will be great alongside Miller coaching the team, not to mention removing Sergio and Frye. Oh and more than likely, LA will have been signed to a long term extension as well. Maybe you should reserve judgement next time knowing that KP has done an incredible job since being in charge. IN KP WE TRUST! Right?

IIRC, he didn't talk to Roy for about a year b/c of a perceived slight on a video game shoot. I'll try to look it up.

I got my articles mixed up. It was b/c of the dinner, not the video game shoot.

BEING A Texan, Aldridge has a particular love of red meat. So it was especially wounding when he thought that Roy had left him out of a trip to a Brazilian barbecue joint in Memphis early last season. So that's how it is, he thought, and steered clear of Roy everywhere but on the court. It wasn't until the summer that Travis Outlaw convinced Aldridge that he had simply forgotten to tell him about the dinner. The issue is a memory now, but that kind of response to a perceived slight is what the Blazers work every day to avoid. They can't afford not to.

Big deal. He felt slighted. It didn't impact his play on the court. So, who cares? He's a professional who shows up and does his job.

Untilmately, Aldridge will sign a contract that makes him a very rich man and will insure he, his children and his childern's children are set for life financially. I doubt if he'll hold a grudge against the organization over it.

I'm not saying he did or didn't let it affect his play, or that it was a big deal. Dante asked why hasoos thought "LMA doesn't take well to being slighted", and I pointed out one of the examples. Elsewhere in that article it talks about KP ensuring LMA's picture was up there with Roy's and Oden's as part of the promotional materials, when even the marketing team hadn't thought to do so.

But that ain't going to happen here. Mainly because, even if you were to wait for free agency, you are not going to find too many next year that plays LaMarcuses position that are any better than he is. Maybe one, but if he is, it won't be that way too much longer.

If you lose LaMarcus, you have to replace him. But the bottom line here is this organization ain't going that direction and they arn't going to lose him. He will be signed soon. I guarantee it.

Would it be so bad if we let him get to RFA and then just sign him to whatever he's offered? I mean, he'll be pissed for sure, but he'll still be ours at the end of the day, and possibly for cheaper.

Just food for thought, I want him signed tomorrow and I don't give a shit for how much. Come on Paul Allen, sell one of your record breaking yachts and just give him the max. Christ.

I don't think issue is money. And really, there might not be any issues. It could be a situation of working out final details of the contract. But I think he will be signed before the start of photo shoot and media day.

It could very well result in him getting a max offer from some other desperate team, in turn forcing our hand then. The smart decision would be to extend him now.

Actually, you are the one reacting as Canzano has on this issue, as he's essentially been saying the same things about the negotiation as you are.
