This message board would roast Barnes if he was a Blazer, for being inconsistent. Sure I would take him on our team in a second, but the question about him when he was drafted is still a question. Can he create his own shot on a consistent basis, or is he more of a role player? Not sure if he is a better overall player than Nic. Certainly not Dame.

I am certain that Nic is a much better player, overall.

But, would you do a swap? They're trying to get rid of David Lee and his contract, something like...

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oe4u2jy
with a 1st rounder thrown in by GS?

They'll be in heavy tax area when they resign their dudes, and they can cut Kaman immediately for around $5 mil in cap savings.

Ugh, I dunno. I don't really like the trade - but perhaps Barnes and Ezeli could be flipped in another trade. Lee is a decent stop-gap PF - if the trade meant that we'd FOR SURE not sign LMA then I'd do it. But they'd have to give us at least one FUTURE unprotected draft pick - I'd ask for one a few years down the line hoping that they slide back to sucksville when we're owed the pick.

I'd much rather have Livingston.

Barnes works fine for them. He's a solid enough Ariza-type. But basically he's Wes, only not quite as good at... everything.

Offensively GS played way better when Livingston was in there with Steph. After game one Klay did very little on O. He played good D but Cleveland smothered him. I always like a two PG lineup, if one of the PG's can guard a 2.

If we trade Batum, we wouldn't have a starting SF, or even a true backup SF.

Barnes and a 1st to take 1 year of David Lee? Seems like a bad deal for GS, especially since they will only pay the tax for 1 year and their owner says he's willing to do it.

Barnes was fortunate that he got to be a 5th option on the w's but the kid can play. And he really impressed me when he played 4 against z-bo. He is much stronger than he looks. No way I give him up if I'm not upgrading somewhere else.

I still think a deal sending you Lee and Igoudala would make sense. If lma leaves, I think Lee is as good a pf as you can realistically hope to get for next season (assuming you want to try to be good if lma leaves) and igoudala give you the secondary ball handler and perimeter defender you need. I think GS gives those guys up cheaply but they won't just give away a real asset like Barnes. Hell, I don't even think they will give up ezeli just to avoid 1 year of tax.

Good to see a take from a GS fan perspective. Personally, I'd rather have Iggy than Barnes, but can't come up with Iggy + Lee salary from our end.

If we lost LMA and Wes wouldn't we be so far under the cap that we could absorb Lee and Iggy?
Not that i would do it.

Weird, I swore yesterday there was a tweet by Harrison Barnes with Lillard at Dame's Oakland event just showing some support....seems to have been deleted.......

Barnes' new agent has likely (correctly) informed him that he'll get significantly more next summer as an RFA than he could get this year in an extension. He is right to reject the offer.

As to the Blazers, I wouldn't be surprised if they offer him a near-max deal next summer, only to be matched at the last minute, a la Enes Kanter.

There have been a couple articles that have pointed out that even with the bump in the cap coming the Warriors might not be able to afford him.

Not to worry - they can easily afford somebody at least as good.

It's on facebook still. Maybe that was where you saw it?

They did not automatically give Klay Thompson a MAX deal. Same with Green. They would have the option to match with him so they are in no rush.

They could use Kaman, especially with Aldridge in SA

IF Barnes could b had for JUST Kaman (I think this deal alone would put GS over the tax & they'd have to add either a draft pick or $ to the deal. THIS deal... IS definitely a Neil kind o' deal!:smiley-yup:) as a 1 yr. rental to see if he's worthy of a real contract... I would roll the dice on that & I'd welcome Barnes (up until now, I haven't been a fan of him/his game BUT IF he can show the proper growth & a real ability to help our team... I'll change my tune:wink: He MUST earn my praise!).

Some might ask... why would GS do a deal like that w/ us? Because GS & everyone knows no matter how Barnes plays this yr. he's going to be overpaid or he's gonna be crazily overpaid by someone & GS mostly likely doesn't want to be that someone in either scenario so they will squeeze as much out of their asset as they can. Nearing playoff time/playoffs, they could really use a guy like Kaman (from Kaman's perspective, this would give him the best shot @ ever winning a championship, so I think he'd jump @ the chance to go to GS), especially > Barnes (so IF a deal happened between us, I think it'd happen most likely when ~1/2 the season's over BUT IF Barnes is to come here... I'd MUCH rather prefer it b from the beginning of the season, sort of worthless for us to take him when the season's almost done & we're nowhere near the playoffs; IF we did this... it'd just b a HUGE favor to GS & the best thing we get out of it is the right to match anyone offering him a contract. Let's see if Neil can get Barnes for a yr. on the cheap!:ygrin:).

I think it'll take CJ McCollum being thrown in there to make it worth GS's time.
