What's the value of Derrick Williams to the Blazers though? He looked like a bust last year. 41% for a PF?? We already have a much better backup PF in JJ Hickson.

On the Knicks deal, maybe the Knicks are holding out so they can do a sign and trade and send Lin to the Blazers.

Lin signed the OS, no? I don't think he can be traded for a while now. I could be wrong though.

This is insane. I'm in agreement with
Punishing teams for underhanded shit. I don't think what the wolves are doing is so much underhanded as stupid.
The knicks are just plain sleezy with this offer sheet. The league needs to come out and put an end to shit like this.

If Batum's preference is Minnesota, I would have a hard time believing that this is true. If it was offered I would hope that Neil and PA say yes. If true, it's hard to imagine that PA's just acting out of spite. I don't believe it was offered.

Really? I find that possibility not only plausible, but damned likely.

When it comes to the Kevin Love, I think it's a sure thing that he's going to bolt back home to Portland, or the Lakers.

I agree. This seems like Kahn misinformation to make the Blazers look bad.

The league needs to start punishing teams for shit like this. It definitely makes the NBA look bad.

They should have the offer sheet delivered like court papers are served. It sounds like even if they FOUND Grunwald, all he'd need to do is cross his arms and shake his head and not accept it. It's ridiculous.

That's actually how I thought they were doing it.

Thank you Knicks for bringing this to light!

Revenge is best served cold. Billionaires didn't become Billionaires by being stupid. I just don't think PA would be that stupid to turn down a good deal when you have heard Batum say his preference is Minnesota.

For some reason I always figured the papers were delivered to the league and then the league sent them to the other team..... guess not.

Except in Paul Allen's case, he became a billionaire because he happened to know Bill Gates. :devilwink:

Well played. Hey, I am just going to stick with my opinion that PA is somewhat rational and even if spiteful would get his revenge at a more opportune time and smile at the return he got. I could be wrong though.

See, I think you'd be right 90% of the time. It's obvious that Mark Cuban is a pretty sharp guy, but Paul hasn't had much success in any other business after leaving Microsoft. I can't think of one business, actually, that has made him money. Maybe someone else would like to chime in with some info. I just always remember hearing that most of his business ventures have failed.

I am almost certain that his Ticketmaster ownership was not bad at all. If memory serves he sold half of his share for about what he paid originally (effectively doubling his money). I also heard that Amazon recently bought quite a bit of real-estate property from him in Seattle for it's HQ - no idea if it was a great investment or not.

I have no idea what ever came from the patent litigation against Apple/AOL/Google/eBay/Facebook etc... in 2010 - this is another interesting one given the current crazy patent litigation that is happening all-around.

So is it supposed to be 5PM EST today that they submit?

I don't know how this is going to work.

1. How/why does Webster go through waivers in 48 hours?
2. How/why is Portland going to be able to receive the signed offer at a specific time?

I might be missing something, or maybe Batum will be able to sign immediately after Webster clears waivers and then and maybe Olshey will be in Las Vegas to have the papers handed to him, but it seems like Kahn/the media is jumping the gun a bit again.

@loud_noises_ They changed the rule. ALL waivers are now 48 hours.

By the way boyz this is a "Kahn induced deadline" and at a whim he could change his mind once again, so keep that in mind. Though I will say if he tries that I think Nic starts getting very antsy and pissed and the whole thing could blow up in Kahn's face, something i would love to see happen
