He probably tried to pull some shit like the Vikings and Seahawks did to eachother a few years back. Like he wrote in there you get a 1 million dollar bonus for playing more than 30% of your games in Portland, or something, which he obviously would never do playing for them. Of course, those aren't allowed in NBA deals.

If the bonuses are not valid, shouldn't that make the whole contract null and void? Batum signed a contract that he believed had bonuses in there that were valid. Doesn't sound like there was a meeting of the minds and a contract that is valid.

make Minny try again and another 3 day waiting period. :D

BTW- I think the Minny hate should stop. They are a small market team like us that is trying to be aggressive and become a contender. The deck is stacked against them (like us) and I wish them the best (unless they are battling the Blazers). They do have a young exciting group . . . but that doesn't mean much in this NBA where stars combine to squash small market teams.

This whole episode is a fukkin fiasco, they should fine the shit out of Kahn for all this crap of invalid offers and not even being able to correctly write a friggin cintract - what a bunch of slime balls

I keep thinking Kahn has hit bottom but then something even funnier happens... If I were the TWolves right now I'd be offering up the GM job to Brian from Washington, he's obviously smarter.

With the disallowed bonuses, it probably is for less than was originally discussed, but it may also be backloaded so that there's less money in the first year.

Sounds like the voice of reason, but...
1) some of their fans came onto this very site for the sole purpose of spamming
2) their GM, a former oregonian, openly hates us, and has used childish tactics against us, even going so far as hurting his own team in order to hurt us.

Minnetards (as some have called them) seem like a much more reasonable target for childish humor than HCPs wife - even though HCP himself has encouraged such tomfoolery in the past.

My dear mother was born in Minnesota, and I'm 1/4 Norwegian, and I'm a Vikings fan. But, when it comes to basketball, F--- them.
 
It's just hilarious. It's like Kahn has been a complete joke through this entire process. And to top it off, as we're matching, Olshey gets to point out that the NBA disallowed parts of the contract. It's just one more, "finger point and laugh directed at Kahn and Minnesota." I love this. Thanks Minnesota. Fucking chumps.

The Blazers have decided to match the Minnesota Timberwolves' four-year, $46.5 million offer to restricted free agent forward Nicolas Batum, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.
