Actually about $14mil. Martell's owed 600k, and Miller's owed 800k. Cap is a little over $58mil. Wolves are at $44.2mil after Darko, Matell, and Miller are dealt with.

He's not "officially" off the spreadsheets because he hasn't "officially" retired with the league and as such can't "officially" be taken off of team salary so that you can "officially" offer someone an offer sheet. Don't blame my spreadsheet for your GM's lack of understanding of the CBA.

Joe Cronin earning his pay, nice job buddy! IMO the pressure mounts on Minny to pony up Williams, if they don't there's no chance of a sign and trade deal IMO and I think they are startin to figure that out - a bit slow however, Hell, I would not be surprised if there is no offer

If a player is waived with non-guaranteed salary, his non-guaranteed salary comes off the team salary when he clears waivers.
...
A player released July 1 to August 14 stays "on waivers" for seven days. A player released between August 15 and June 30 of the following year stays on waivers for 48 hours. The waiver period includes Saturdays and Sundays. During the waiver period other teams may claim the player and assume his contract. If no team has claimed the player before the end of the waiver period, he is said to have "cleared waivers." The player's contract is terminated and he becomes a free agent. The only way to terminate a contract early (other than with an ETO -- see question number 57) is through the waiver process.

Like I said before, BOS got around this with Sheed, iirc, b/c he filed retirement papers with the league. But I think even then all 30 teams have to sign off on it (Jason Williams Rule). That takes some time.

Honestly, the best deal for MIN (if I was their GM) would be to amnesty Darko, take on Korver's contract for a 2nd rounder or something, and then package Miller/Webster/Korver to a team that can give up 20M worth of bad contracts and young players/draft picks. You get overpriced players and some assets, the other team gets 18M in cap/tax relief. Win-Win. And you're not bound by waiver timing.

yeah, that's what the first part of the quote was about. You only get the relief (5.1 in cap hold goes to 600k or whatever) AFTER the waivers are cleared. Which takes 7 days in summer.

At this point I don't have the slightest guess, but if we waive Miller/Webster to create room for Batum, and then miss out on Batum, we'd still have that room.

So maybe they offer Williams and/or Johnson plus a pick or two, and the obvious straight cap space. We'd have just short of $13mil in straight cap space, so adding either Williams or Johnson is enough to be able to take back all of Iggy's contract. With them amnesting Brand, and likely heading in a new direction, I'm sure they'd love the cap savings.

You can't say "4/45" and if Nic says "ok I'll sign", THEN waive players, renounce cap holds, etc. That's why we removed Hickson's QO before we told Hibbert we were offering the max.

Personally, unless stuff's gone on at the League Office that NO ONE's tweeted/written about, there's NO WAY they're going to have the space for a 4/46.5M offer today, tomorrow or next Wednesday. Even if Miller magically came off the books today, the most they could offer would be a starting salary of 9.5M, which would equal a 4/40.5M contract. And I don't think that can happen.

If they don't intend to match though I would be disappointed that they didn't S&T. So I am guessing they will match or S&T.
