He's hearing that Neil wants to trade into the top 5 and the target is Oladipo.

I'd wait for the lotto to actually happen first before I talk trading into the top 5.

Who do we offer along with our pick to move up? Wessy wes?

Well, I think talking about trading up is logical, because iirc, the Blazers will either get 1-3, or 10-12.

Good player to have to guard all the PG's these days

It'd sure be a small backcourt, though

Trading Wes would also clear up a lot of cap space if you wanted to throw a max at a guy in free agency , but would he be enough to get in the top 5? Hopefully they can get a top three pick outright so we don't have to find out.

His reach/wingspan are nearly identical to Roy, fwiw.

Odd you'd hear a specific name this early. He could easily be a smoke screen.

Man he genuinely sounds like he wants to be here and I think he will be pretty good. Im all for it.

Well duh. He can't trade a pick we don't have yet. He's just thinking ahead.

A year ago, Olshey was very open in his preference for Lillard. Not quite this early, 5-6 weeks out, but about 3 weeks out it was becoming obvious, so all the mocks moved Lillard up to our spot at #6.

I don't see it happening. I don't think Wes is enough to move up, unless maybe we take a bad contract back too. Wes/10 for Tyrus Thomas/pick, maybe, if the Bobcats drop a couple spots?

I do not know why teams would give up cap space to get a player with similar value either. I like VO better than Wesley too.

Who knows, sometimes teams are stupid. Such as the Bulls trading LMA for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Khryapa :)

You mean Russian Pippen? You know they probably thought they fleeced us in that deal.

Oladipo is a player! I would take him before Shabazz any day of the week. Not sure I would take him top 3 though and Wes is not enough to move up unless some team is really very stupid.

That's why we are destined to win the lotto! He is exactly the type of player out team needs! Let's get him ASAP!!!

When is the last time a team traded up into the top 5? Seems difficult and very rare.

Haynes said his source is someone "close to the prospect". So he didn't hear anything from Olshey. And this could very, very well be just an agent trying to raise his client's draft stock.

A lot of mocks have Oladipo going around #8. I like him, but I also like Shabazz and Zeller and a number of guys. Almost seems like, if we're keeping our pick, that we should just wait to see who falls to us at #10. Or perhaps, if our guy is around at 7, 8 or 9, to trade something small to move up a few spots during the draft.

be interesting to see how the post combine mock drafts come out over the next few days, likely some significant shifting among some prospects

Who would you take at #3? It seems that Noel and McLemore are a consensus top two. (Even though both have question marks)

But who is #3? I have never seen a draft where it is so wide open. Oladipo seems like he very well could be #3. This is not to say this draft is weak, it just lacks stars in the top 3-4 that most drafts have. But after that it seems to be decent which is beneficial to those outside the top 3.

I think when it's all said and done Oladipo might end up the best player out of this class. I only watched maybe 3 or 4 Ohios State games this year, but that guy stood out head and shoulders against the competition I saw. In terms of the collegiate ranks, athletically he's about as gifted as anybody I've seen since I watched Westbrook at UCLA.

He's not "perfect" but man I think he's going to be a player.

Nic, you mean IU correct?

The way any ball around him seems to get stolen reminds me of Paul George.

Haynes killed it last year at the draft.

Then he bombed during the Batum fiasco.

to be fair, lots of guys just trusted "sources" instead of doing some journalistic work (and not paying attention to "only fans" who tried to help them out)--Haynes, Quick, DJ, Jerry Zgoda from MIN. But all of them ended up coming around and being cool about it after--especially DJ and Zgoda.

In fact, here's a quick twitter-ism:

sad thing to me is that it took amateurs to tell u and dj that you hadn't checked your info enough & we weren't believed. Oops
Jerry Zgoda ‏@JerryZgoda 15 Jul @brianfromwa
please...just because they hadn't made the moves didn't mean they weren't going to make them. You weren't that smart...

when kahn said Thu that he had a signed offer sheet and would turn it in COB, I told u and dj he couldn't. U didn't check. Oops

you were right, he was bluffing...

Even Dwight came around. Gotta have a little respect for that.
