I'm just having a really hard time with the idea of Dame holding the team responsible for their failures without him owning some of the blame.

What blame do you think he needs to own?

Not talking with Quick?

Do you have what the rest of the article says, if anything?
Just a bunch of quotes from the Olshey PC, but Quick's thoughts:

Now, it could very well be that Lillard wants to take a break from the drama that arose in the wake of Stotts’ departure. Lillard pushed for Jason Kidd to be Stotts’ replacement, going on the record saying he liked Kidd and Chauncey Billups. In the next 24 hours, there was a back-and-forth debate between the Blazers and Lillard’s camp, a conversation that likely centered around Portland’s concerns about Kidd’s domestic violence history. Less than 12 hours after that, Kidd withdrew his name from consideration.

Either way you look at it, pushing for Kidd was a failed power move by Lillard’s camp but one that figures to be remembered down the road. This matters because in Portland there are two nightmare scenarios:

1. Jody Allen decides to sell the team and the Blazers leave town
2. Lillard gets fed up with how basketball decisions are being handled and demands a trade

I still don’t know if I believe Lillard would ever demand a trade out of Portland. It’s just not his style. It’s so against his brand, against his story, against everything he has preached for the past nine years. But, maybe I’m naive. Maybe his desire to win is greater than anything else.

I’ve observed Lillard intently for nine years. Interviewed him thousands of times. I’ve studied his background. Talked to many in his family and inner circle. And I’ve found he is the definition of integrity. He is selfless. He cares about people. He doesn’t do things halfway; when he puts his mind to something, there’s no deterring him. And when you hear him talk about his dreams of winning a title in Portland, not just read his quotes, but actually hear him say it — man, it’s a powerful thing, because I believe it’s coming from a powerful place — his heart.

Still, the winds of change are blowing, and with it have come these hazy rumors and mysterious social media posts and power struggles amid agents and front office. It has led us to this unsettled place. It’s not quite losing Aldridge and three other starters, but there is some rather large uncertainty hanging over the franchise, starting with Lillard, who is the most beloved, if not the greatest, Blazer of all time.

why? I'd love to have someone more engaged and into basketball. Any owner is not leaving portland.

New owner yes. Leaving would be a nightmare. Whenever a team gets sold there's always some chance it gets moved, however small it may be.

this was the narrative in 2004. not happening in 2021.

When SAC and the Bucks manage to stay in their markets, and the Clips do the same in LA, and new owners come in to markets like Minny/Utah without a peep, why would a stable market like Portland right in the middle of the league in terms of valuations be in any danger whatsoever?

unfounded fears.

I'm at a disadvantage because I can't read the articles but I've never got the impression Dame holds himself blameless. Looks like he's really frustrated that Portland appears no closer to contention than they were 8 years ago

Not much chance of leaving since the Rose Garden is owned by Vulcan Inc. I'm sure that any sale would include a long term lease commitment. What would Vulcan do with the Rose Garden if the Blazers left town?

Good point.

Is it true that the Blazers will likely sign Billups as their née Coach?

blazers should make nurk our new head coach

im not even joking

Blazers should run a crowd source campaign for the fans to submit questions they think are important to ask the next coach -- even if they never end up asking a single one of the submissions, it would be a great way to understand what is most important to their fanbase. I have no idea, do they do something like this for season ticket holders every year (generic survey or anything)? I would also like if the ultimate interview process includes a portion of Q&A without Olshey in the room -- I am guessing some of the candidates would make better GMs than him and could give them an opportunity to voice their thoughts on "the roster".

Yeah, I know. Don't (wife) beat the messenger.
I was saying it for others, not you.
Because it was one of those slideshow ones (for me on mobile at least).
Apologies lol nice joke though now I’m gonna get screamed it for laughing

The Popovich tree had produced excellent shoots, think Golden State and Phoenix.
I'd like to point out that Monty coached for the Blazers and Steve Kerr played for the Blazers.

Why would an experienced existing coach want to come to PTLD if the GM just through Terry under the bus?
