Ime Udoka has articles about him running the defense for Philadelphia AND the Nets. So yes.
And I don’t really know about Monty Williams or Ty Lue. (Wasn’t Ty Lue essentially hand picked by LeBron anyway?)

I wasn’t really concerned with who they were hiring as a coach, so I wasn’t reading news articles about coaching searches for other teams.
I do recall when Portland last had a coaching search, there were articles about Stotts (the offense, and the championship) as well as Steve Clifford and his defensive prowess.

So, from what I recall, yeah… I think this is par for the course.

And like I said, the article talked about a lot more than player development.
 
I’m not against Hammon, for what it’s worth, I just want to know what the fuck she does.

We know Billups.
We know MDA.
We know Udoka.
We know Darvin Ham.
We know Dawn Staley (although in the women’s game.)
We don’t have ANY stats for Hammon. You don’t find that odd?

Honestly I would rather the team look into Staley more seriously than Hammon. Staley is at least a student of the game from what I could gather.
 
I don’t even care about what Calvin posted as I think it’s bullshit.

I care about stats and numbers; ya know, analytics kinda guy. SHOW ME THE MONEY.

And, if we are being honest here, the Spurs haven’t exactly lit the world on fire since Hammon has been lead assistant.

(Which again, doesn’t really matter to me if we know what the hell she is responsible for. Things are deeper than just team record.)

Don’t worry, you have lots of posters on the BlazersEdge forum clamouring for the team to hire Hammon as well. You may all get your wish. I, for one, am not a fan and it has nothing to do with what @calvin natt posted. IMO she’s not the right hire for this team AT THIS TIME. If the team goes into a full rebuild, then yah bring her on. Or offer her a shit ton of money and ask her to be the Associate HC under whomever is hired. If that person doesn’t work out, promote her to HC. By that point Dame will likely be gone anyways.

That seems fair. I too am hesitant at offering the HC position in the last couple of years to someone who hasn't been a head coach.
 
School of Pop is fierce accountability for players and even the officials.. This team desperately needs a hard nosed coach. I'm sure Becky is great at player development but can she command a game? Honestly that's one plus of MDA over Billups as well, you know he's not too nice or afraid to go after the refs.

I think this all comes down to what the consensus will be between Dame, Neil and Jody.

Dame already named Billups publicly, and the Neil/Billups/Woj hints are obvious.

Billups has a reputation as a great leader during his playing days, and he’s carried that over as an assistant. Watching the playoffs, he’s very involved on the Clippers bench.

We know what we’re getting in Dantoni, while Hammon is more of an unknown.

In my opinion, Billups is still the top choice, and Dantoni is the backup plan.

You worry about Dame ask for a trade if Becky was the hire but bet he already sign off on her if she the one or she probably wouldn't got this far in the process. But whoever it is they might still have the same problem if they don't go far next year whoever the coach is.

I just want this shit handled. Have a coaching staff in place so they can give their input on what I'm hoping is an off season that has big changes beyond coaching.

I'm OK with pretty much all of the rumored HCs, aside from MDA. We know what he does. We know who he is. We really don't need to turn into a gimmick team.
 
MDA:
Experienced and innovative. Dame has best chance to become MVP if MDA is our coach.
Known as an offense only coach. 70 yo

Billups:
Strong credentials as a player. Coach on the floor as a player. Neil has talked him up for his entire career with the Blazers.
Only 1 year of assistant coaching experience

Becky:
7 years coaching experience under Pops.
Is she ready? Rumored Red Flags. Will face undo pressure if team performs poorly.

I'm OK with any of them, but being a homer, I would prefer Ime.
