Head Coach thread (3 Viewers)

The thing about D’Antoni is he’s had success with different type of players ie Nash and Harden. He’s pretty much the pioneer of the game as we see it today. He also gets out of the first round consistently and almost beat a team we routinely got stomped by. He’s not my first choice, but I wouldn’t complain if he got the job. I also think all three of these candidates have been approved by Dame. His manager was praising MDA not long ago on twitter.

My only hang up with MDA is defense obviously. And this notion that an assistant can mitigate some of those issues is good in theory. But the culture is set by the head coach. We just dealt with similar issues where every decision was made with offense in mind. My fear is that it will be more of the same on the defensive end of the floor, and any improvements on offense will still not be enough to win us games late in the playoffs.

Yeah obviously if MDA gets the Job Olshey has to hire someone for defense

I just don't see how Olshey can make such a big deal about improving the defense in that press conference, especially with the context of firing Stotts...and then turn around and hire 70 year old D'antoni as head coach

on the other hand, Olshey is so myopic about CJ, if he thinks MDA can turn CJ into the player Olshey believes CJ is, then MDA might have the inside track

You sure? I swear I’ve seen him post a couple blurry pics!
Isn't it "Grainy Pics"? There was another guy that posted blurry pics around here? Not sure which one it was but he had something to do with a guy getting traded to Portland or something like that?

Anyone of the candidates except D'Antoni

I don't think CJ fits the Dantoni system personally. If you look back at Dantoni 2 - 4s throughout the years they almost always were 3 and D (or pre-3 and D guys). Powell would play the Phoenix Joe Johnson, Raja Bell, and Eric Gordon type of role.

The reason Mike let Harden and Paul iso is that they are so damn efficient because in addition to their points per shot, their iso led to (i) foul shots, (ii) assists, (iii) shots at the cup. CJ is FAR worse on all three fronts. Because he can't finish at the cup he's not a real drive n kick threat.

Unless he can change his game and become a finishing threat, I think we should ship his ass if D'antoni is hired.

In HS I worked part time at a gas station if I wasn't playing ball, Friday/Saturday was a great night to meet chicks while at work and I always got off at 10 or 11p.
Gas station guys today are the creepiest. I know so many women that feel uncomfortable getting gas because these dudes can't stop from hitting on them just because.

Breaking News: CJ is so excited about D’Antoni that he is at the practice facility right now and working on his one on one game.

Different era for sure....
Back in the 60's guys and gals cruised The Speck on 50th & Powell, Yaw's, Broadway and they needed gas, oil checked, air, and windshield cleaned.
I worked a Toms Gulf right across from The Speck. Always had my Blue 50 Chevy deluxe park on the side.

And by the way, there are some creepy women these days pumping gas but I commend them for working...

I grew up 2 blocks from the Speck and I hadn’t thought of Tom’s Gulf station in over 50 years. Thanks for making me feel even older…….

here's a test....identify all three cars passing by on the right there

I think the station wagon is a rambler
That station wagon looks like a ‘56 Chevy, the sedan is a ‘53- ‘56(?) Ford, the grill entering the photo at the left is a ‘54(?) Chevy and the beast to the right looks like some sort of Dodge or Plymouth……..
