I hate getting this personal on the Blazer board but I need some help.

I've worked at SAIF over 22 years and do so because we've always done the right things for our injured workers, our employers and the state of Oregon. My fellow coworkers are the most professional, ethical, amazing people and we have been embarrassed by the actions of some corrupt VPs, our former CEO, and the board of directors. This man's name deserves to be cleared. If you're comfortable with this we could use as many signatures as we can get on this petition, even if you're out of state. Thank you so much!

This isn't getting a lot of local press right now but here are some articles from an industry publication if you want the gory details and comments from many of my coworkers.

Local press is starting to catch on but it has taken forever:

And it's nice to have you back posting. I will leave this on the main Blazer page for a few hours then move it to the OT section.

Thank you Sir Dog, I swear I was in the OT section starting the thread! I have no idea why it posted in here but I do appreciate the added traffic on the main board!

After one article, a comment from an employee says that 200 of the 800 total SAIF employees went to a meeting to support Plotkin. Factoring in fear of being fired...that means he has 99% support.

Back in the 60s, the term "sexual revolution" meant the freedom to not only do it, but to talk about it. Then in the 70s under the guise of feminism, reactionary prosecutors invented laws to imprison free speech practitioners at work. Plotkin was fired as CEO for a couple of cases of salty language, which moral police prosecutors call "sexual harassment."

i didnt want to because it was on #420, but i did anyways

Anyone who is comfortable signing that petition, I would encourage them to take the couple of minutes to do it.

So often, and especially on the OT board we discuss topics that we have very little power to change or alter in any kind of way. Here we have a long time and quality poster letting us know of a local issue where we can make a difference.

From my perspective, too often the common folk get overlooked or stepped upon by big corporations, CEOs and board of directors making decisions guided by greed power control or both. Only when push comes to shove and somehow they get exposed does any kind of change occur. I think far more often unreasonable decisions are made and stand because there is very little individuals can do about it.

But regardless of my thoughts, we have a loyal and credible member of this board saying she has worked there for 22 years, there is an injustice going on and she could use our help simply by signing a petition (which can be done through the link provided . . she also has provided many links for those who want to really research the topic.

They are looking for 1000 signatures. Let's support a board member and make a real difference in a local issue affecting many Oregonians. If you feel it's the right thing to do, let's help out spud and the employees of SAIF by signing the petition.

Thank you so much Brains and Beauty (I mean Batum)!

This really does affect every Oregonian even though we're not a state agency (we are totally funded by premiums paid by customers). SAIF is owned by the state of Oregon and any litigation against the company is defended by the Oregon Department of Justice which is funded by tax payers.

Done. I expect special favors from Spud now.

Weird. I know that's the number after I voted....I double checked before I replied.

Go Blazers

Good luck Spud on getting this taken care of. I signed.

Spud, is it ok for me to sign even though I live in California?

Who was #423, the crazy guy from Washington State who typed into the message box, "Freedom of speech!"

Sounds like one of you.

Petition is at 444 . . . help a fellow long time board member out.

This board can have an impact on this . . .

What the heck did this guy do or Not do?

"inappropriate and offensive comments" is hardly enough to go on.

How about going on helping a fellow poster out. If you wanted a petition signed, I would do it unless there it was something I completely disagreed with. Spud is credible and the issue is important to her.

But if you aren't comfortable signing it, i get it. I just like that we talk so much politics on here and we can actually make a difference in this local issue.

FWIW-the guy got screwed over by the board and VPs and these are decisions that normally goes unnoticed which is why they do moves like this. All the petition is doing is showing that people cared about this decision and for someone to take a second look at it. If we really want to get into this one, that would be fun because again it is local and we can have an impact. So do you think his firing was appropriate? I think politics came into play and the VPs and board flexed their muscle to show what kind of power they had. It was unjustified and wrong, but again they are used to getting away with these kind of moves.

Power to the people!

Thank you everyone for helping out. I appreciate anything we can get including out of state signatures!

I have to admit that I only read three of the proffered articles..but it does give insight into the system...

Rather appalling to me, that we have a State chartered corporation with a board of directors only appointed by the Governor. When they get into a bicker over a guy they hire seems more or less what you would expect
from a board of non business people. I suppose the Governor can look into the matter anytime he might want, but then they are his people to begin with, not the poor schmuck from Colorado.
