I just can't help but laugh at anyone posting stuff from the past. As a person who lives in a city that is filled with immigrants who are both legal and illegal let me tell you about the future.

I don't speak for "we". I speak for me.

I want companies to comply with existing legislation that requires them to verify prospective employees' identities and work status before hiring them
I want those jobs to be populated by people who are legally permitted to work in the United States, whether citizen or legal resident alien.
I want companies found not to be in compliance with said regulations to be punished accordingly.
I want the US justice system to enforce US laws intended to regulate US businesses.

I don't think any of that's unreasonable.

This whole system is baloney!

The federal Government is responsible for immigration and enforcement. Therefore if a person is here, they should be eligible to be hire implicitly if the they apply.
If the person is illegal, then that should be caught by the Federal Government when the specific SS number is paid into if there is a mismatch. Employers are in business to run a business
not fill in for the the Governments lack of enforcement with all the required tack of non profiling and potentially discriminating.

Hell a Freight company can ship more shipments every week than there are people in North American. They, with the proper aid of a modern computer system can immediately detect the use of or appearance of a phony Freightbill or Waybill on fist use. So could the government with Social Security numbers.

They pay 12 Billion in taxes and help this country function.

They clean our houses and do mostly all the work we won't/don't. Taking away jobs my ass.

How else would we treat people seeking asylum?

So countries with a lack of illegals don't have people to clean houses and scrub toilets?

Actually, they don't fuck up schools. For one it allows for a great diversity, and for another more jobs, for bilingual teachers
