But I'm back from my last trip outside the wire, and today is my last day at my Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan. Tomorrow I start the process of getting home.

It'll still take a few weeks to outprocess at multiple different places, turn in gear, play the hurry-up-and-wait game, wait for flights, do training with chaplains and psychiatrists and stuff, but I'll most likely be home with the fam for Thanksgiving.

A lot of you have been very encouraging this year, and I wanted to say thanks.

Brian

Come back safe brother! You are a much needed and loved poster in this forum

Make it home safe, and enjoy the family for the holidays!

Thank you for your service.

I hope you get to read this message. You do a great service to the world.
A priest, an army man, and a teacher are all in a helicopter. The helicopter starts to go down, so the pilot says quick everybody throw anything you have on you to lighten the chopper! So the teacher throws her apple, the priest throws his bible, and the army man throws his grenade. The helicopter lands safely, and the army man starts walking around when he sees a little girl crying. "Little girl, little girl, why are you crying?" The little girl answers, "an apple fell out of no where and hit me in the head!" The army man continues walking until he stumbles upon another crying girl. " little girl, little girl, why are you crying?" The girl responds, "a bible came out of no where and hit me in the head!" The army man is walking again and sees a little boy rolling around laughing. He walks up to the boy and asks, "little boy, little boy, why are you laughing so hard?" The boy laughs and says, "my grandpa farted, and the house behind him blew up!"

Good news Brian. Keep your head down until you can get out of Dodge.

As others have said, Thank you for your service.

Go Blazers

Great news, Brian. Glad you'll get to spend the holidays at home with your loved ones.

Thanks for your service, Brian. Being with the family for the holidays is well deserved.

I will just hold my breath in the corner over here..you can call me old blue..hurry up!

On a serious note, be safe, get home and thank you.

This is the part where you say "Ok I'm all done. I'm back"

Ok, out of country. I will definitely NOT be leaving pieces of myself in Afghanistan this trip.

Still have a couple days of waiting for flight and customs/outprocessing, then finish the week in Germany doing my health physical and decompression training. There is potential to be home Monday, though I've been kicked in the junk before hoping for things like this. Regardless, the weapons are locked up and I'm allowed 2 beers tonight, though Ill most likely wait until Germany. Don't quite trust Russian/Kyrgyzstani fire water

I'm glad you got out alive. Will you be more free now to argue with me?
