Hopefully some of y'all can quit dogging Terry MF Stotts now

There are 2 sides of the ball and we lost because of Defense. Myers had ZERO impact on D.

what impact at all did Collins have last night? 5 fouls and no rebounds isn't having much of an impact on defense and you said you watched the game. The first game Collins was instrumental. Last night he was a non factor and more negative impact than anything.

Oh gee look, yet another post by Cup that had to be edited! For those that didn't see it, I'm no longer a decent person because I criticized the coaching.

Anyone want to take over my lease? I'm trying to move out of his head. Also please provide the link where I made such a claim of the bold printed line. :blahblah:

Um no. I don't have to look anything up.

I watched the game. During that run in the 3rd quarter I was PLEADING with him to call a timeout. He didn't call one until they were within one point.
You obviously do need to look it up because you are absolutely wrong on every level.
At 8:53 of the third quarter Portland Full Timeout! Score 69-58. Lead down to 11 points!
At 7:11 of the third quarter 1 minute and 42 seconds later Stotts again calls a Full Timout! Portland Full time out plain as day.
Score 69-66. Lead down to 3 points.
Collins in for Kanter
Hood in for Aminu
The two guys that can't eat or drink were killing them. From that point on they were pretty much back and forth even.

I actually thought we didn't have our best defenders in the game in the last 5 minutes.
Chief Mo Collins Turner should have been in the game. Games are won and lost in the 4th qtr many times and D usually is what wins championships.

I brought this up because the pro-Stotts group talk about him doing more with less. For his first 4 years or so, I was actually on this side of the argument. I came to realize I was giving Stotts too much credit and sometimes being too tough on Olshey. Not that I think Olshey is a great GM - but not everything is his fault.

who do we blame for exceeding expectations? Do you actually think our roster is better than GS with Nurkic out and Kanter severely hobbled? We already dispatched two teams that were contenders ahead of us to make it to the WCF.

Ahh yes, the longtime Cup go to saying when he turns thread discussions away from the topic at hand and makes them about him and then claims that he's living in other people's head!

This shit is seriously pathetic.

The same imoact he always has. No easy buckets at the rim for opponents.

Why is Hood being so underutilized? I would say Stotts could use the injury excuse but it was like this before his knee injury too.

If we have Dame, CJ, and Hood in the game with two bigs that means that Steph has to guard one of those 3 guys. He can't stay in front of Dame or CJ and Hood can post him up all day.

It really can be that simple sometimes. Put lineups out there that create mismatches elsewhere when they are selling out to defend Dame. I'm not an NBA coach though so I guess this is a dumb post.

Not yesterday. You can't seriously think Collins had more of an impact than Leonard yesterday as Collins would have likely fouled out with another minute of playing time as he had 5 in 8 minutes. It just wasn't his night and hopefully he can bounce back and have an impact tomorrow.

I'm wrong. I'll own it.

The guy who liked this post doesn't own SHIT.

This is so correct.

When a team falls short, people want to find someone to blame (never credit the other team). The easiest person to blame that takes the least amount of critical thinking is blaming the coach. The sad reality is that Golden St has an incredible amount of talent and that's why they've had all the success they've had for the past 5 years.

Thank. You.

There are a total of 7 posters on this board all in on bashing the coach. Those posters post about 40% of the comments of the entire forum. Some of them are even willing to sit up all night and do nothing but bash a head coach that has produced more with less than pretty much any coach has in the history of the league.
It's fine as that is their prerogative to do so but don't think because every comment you make gets the same like from the same few people that you are correct. Most people knowledgeable about the game know what Stotts has accomplished and that he will continue for the next year building a winner and a winning culture here in Portland.

Agree.

There is some weird thinking that “pro-Stotts” people (like me) think he’s perfect. He’s not. But Kerr doesn’t outcoach Stotts. He has better players. Stotts fucks up. So does Brad Stevens. So does Mike Malone. CJ misses shots. How do you know Stotts didn’t have a play drawn up and it broke down and Damian had to create a tough shot, with time running down and was guarded by a crafty veteran, and might have been fouled. Stotts’ fault? Sometimes it’s just sports. Team’s in the WCF without second best player and his backup has one arm. What the actual fuck is the problem.

Yep
Look for this. It would work with two bigs also. They need to play bigger and stronger than GS.

Stotts literally said there wasn't enough time for a play and he was just hoping they could ummm somehow you know get a shot off.

To Summarize...

Game 1: Horrible defensive game plan - 116pts allowed
Game 2: Requested adjustments made - 114pts allowed
I'm sorry but if you think they played the way posters asked for in the 3rd quarter then you aren't really comprehending our posts. They gave up 39 points in that quarter. They only gave up 25 points in the other 3 quarters when they were actually doing "requested adjustments".

But Kerr doesn’t outcoach Stotts.

Kerr outcoached him last game bro.

In the 3rd Stotts KEPT running that same 1-5 pick and roll. He's getting Dame and CJ trapped with the sideline and halfcourt line being extra defenders.

It's a simple change to do a 1-2 or 1-3 (whoever's guarding Curry) pick and pop to and get a switch onto Curry.

Or play the high post and run back cuts.

It's not that hard to try something new...

They called timeout with 12 seconds left right? And he likely called something to be run. Then basketball happens. The play goes according to plan or it doesn’t. Great play by Igoudala.

Game by game he might outcoach him. But what does Stotts do with Klay and Steph and Draymond and KD? Not win a championship?
