The Mariners will play Game 1 of their ALDS against the winner of the AL Wild Card Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers at one of two times Saturday: either 1:08 p.m. if the Boston Red Sox win their ALWCS against the New York Yankees, or 5:38 p.m. if the Yankees win that series.

Seattle will play Game 2 at 5:03 p.m. Sunday regardless of which teams advance to the divisional round.

Both Game 1 and Game 2 of the Mariners’ ALDS will be at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

If the Red Sox advance to the ALDS, the TV broadcast of Game 1 of the Mariners’ series will be on FS1. If the Yankees do, the Mariners’ Game 1 will air on FOX.

The Mariners’ Game 2 will be on FS1.

MLB: Reaching new popularity? Just in time for the start of the playoffs, the leading indicators of MLB’s health are robust:
Attendance? 71,409,421 fans. Up for the third straight year.
TV viewership? Up across the board (despite that midseason snafu with ESPN).
Average game time? A brisk 2 hours and 38 minutes, the third straight year under 2:40.
Average age of a single-game ticket buyer? Forty-three (down from 46 two years ago), and if you dip into the secondary market, the average age falls below 40. Millennials FTW!
(And 2026 is already off to a promising start, with Opening Day now being aired exclusively on Netflix, per Andrew Marchand, part of the streamer’s strategy of “eventized” sports.)

Having three of these WC series get to a 3rd game helps as well, of course with the Yankee/Sox being a ratings juggernaut, plus a team like the Cubs in the mix and you'd think they should be able to beat last years record setting ratings for the WC round. Not all good news the issue with the local broadcasts still needs to be hashed out and sadly a work stoppage is looming after next season as the owners press hard to get a salary cap installed but some very positive signs for a sport on it's deathbed!

These statements always crack me up. The leagues love to phrase it/twist it so it sounds good. And ignore the not so good. See my post in this thread a couple days ago about how several teams local TV ratings are down.

Do they use some creative phrasing sometimes, sure and there is a lot of work to do with the RSN's imploding for sure but the gains they've made with the sped up game is impressive. I was one to think the pitch clock wouldn't do much but was totally wrong. I notice it some in the stadium at a game where it's made that viewing a little tougher with trying to get concessions but the product on TV is much better and moving forward that's really what will grow the game.
 
Tigers v. Mariners.

We get the skubal experience. But thats really their only pitcher we have to worry about more than anything.

I just guess everyone else was thinking like I was. Just seemed like a sure bet. That’s why I called it three days ago.
 
Yo! Watching my first baseball of the season. Set the game between the New York team vs the Boston team and the game before it was finishing up. I believe it’s the white Sox vs at Chargers! Very exciting!

Amazed that they are immediately showing you what kind of pitch it is each time. That’s dope! Had to holler at my boys in the tv truck in Chi-Town about this wizardry!

Wish we would throw Gilbert on game 2. I would much rather have Gilbert v. Skull. I dont trust Castillo.

Idk man, Castillo shows up in big games. The solution to all of it is to just have some hot bats. Every at bat needs to be a battle. Get his pitch count up early as possible and get to their bullpen.

Yeah 5-6 pitches an at bat puts him in the 30-40 range by the second inning. That’s the ticket. You let him off the hook with a couple 10 pitch innings and this is tougher for sure.
 
Have to manufacture a couple runs from Screwball.

Hopefully the Mariners play three different teams in the playoffs so you will have those to choose from.
