How did your Moniker name come to be?

I originally was Red Hot & Rolling for a few of these Blazers boards, and up until S2.
Then, a couple years ago....someone came on and had the same moniker with only a change of one letter or something.

So, I changed to Harry's Raincoat. Harry Glickman had been unable to secure funding for the Franchise fee in 1970, left the room dejectedly, upon reaching the street, realized that he had left his raincoat behind. Returned to the room, and Sarkowski was on the phone, returning his call. Financing fell into place, with Sarkowski, Weinberg and one other, and the Trail Blazers franchise was born!! All because of a raincoat!!

I've always enjoyed this story!

Oh damn, that was a cool story.

It was at the Rock and Roll Pizza on Powell. Most random name for one of the best venues. I talked to Brock for a few, too. Good dude. Snow capped romance and Bitterness are albums I still play every now and then. Good discs! And yes, Syx always played with them when 36 came. It was nuts. I think one time Strenuus did get to play with them... but we did so many shows at that venue, I could be wrong.

So crazy how full circle things can get, randomly!

seriously! :)
Will who started the rocknroll pizza used to run the U&I in north portland. I was his sound guy there and played many shows there including one with Syx. Ran sound for 6 there too. :)

Nice story, I had no idea!!

Winner!! Great post!

My last name is Frye. It's low-hanging fruit, but some old drug acquaintances would make predictable comments like "Fryyyyyyye, man lets dose!", "Frye...dude...let's get fryed," etc. Since I am myself 24/7, I used the obvious user name.

Also, I'm a pro basketball player. I played for the Blazers from 07-09, making my mark as a legendary stretch 4/5. From that experience, I can say that Mrs HCP is some kind of lonely...

Minor Alan Dean Foster character from the "Flinx" series.
  • If the inhabitants of UlruUjurr were an anomaly among intelligent races, then Maybeso was the anomaly of anomalies.

    Flinx In Flux

  • Like Maybeso, who could teleport when and wherever he wanted to but would not do anything on request and was probably insane to boot.

    Flinx In Flux

  • It was Maybeso, looking dour and distressed as always.

    Flinx In Flux

  • "Nobody knows where he comes from," Mourn said, "and nobody knows where Maybeso goes."

    Flinx In Flux
  • Flinx felt a warm thought flow over him like a bucket of hot water and then Maybeso was gone.

    Orphan Star

  • "Oh, there's no doubt about it," Maybeso told him in a dream-singsong, and winked away again.

Once, there was this guy who,
called himself "tester" on the Trail Blazers forum
But when asked why he's called that,
he claimed that he was a crash test dummy.
He couldn't quite explain it, it'd always just been that.
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm mmm...
I still can't believe I didn't get more appreciation for my "Crash Test Dummies" parody. I was pretty proud of that one. Oh well, no accounting for taste...

I used to road race a Rotary engine Mazda RX7 16 years ago. Still have it in the garage. I added the 111 just for the hell of it. I never thought I would like the forum or I would have made something Blazer related.

I used to travel all over the PNW buying cars for a large local car dealership. I had played poker in college and always enjoyed it so I started playing when I was on the road right when Texas Holdem started to explode in popularity. Lots of people were playing online and thought they were great players. They would show up for a tournament, get knocked out very quickly and then move over to the cash game tables. They would sit down with something to prove but no real experience with playing poker in person and I would be waiting for them. Man I killed some fools.

Around that same time I started posting on Oregonlive's Blazer forum. Signed up as PokerDog, soon got banned. Signed up again as PokerDawg, banned. PokerrrDog, PokerrrDog, BigPokerDog, BigPokerDawg, so many combinations and variations of dog and poker. Finally thought of SlyPokerDog. Around the same time I started chatting with Casey Holdahl who at the time worked at Oregonlive. So SlyPokerDog would get banned, I would email him and he would unban it. People got to know me as SlyPokerDog, it seemed to fit so it stuck and I've used it ever since.
My name also comes from being banned at O-Live.

I was Speed, then Speed'sDog, Speed's Mom, Speed's Piano Teacher, then finally KingSpeed and my email address is KingSpeedForever. Also, I'm incorporated and the name is KingSpeed Inc.

There used to be a magazine called Wizard, which was all about comic books. They had an online message board and I used to be a frequent visitor of that forum. I needed to come up with a username so I could post about nerdy things, so I combined the nicknames of my two favorite superheroes at that time. Anyone wanna guess what those 2 are?
