How many want to sign David Freese

for 2014? I have read 2 articles that the Cardinals will non tender him by Monday's deadline, and he could be had for anywhere from 7 million or less.

My guess is the Yankees will look at him and Peralta. I am sure we will hear more names including Drew and others.

Well, they do need a 3B, and if Freese can come at reasonable price (somewhere between the Red Sox smartly paid Napoli and what the Yankees stupidly paid Youkilis). This team is devoid of major league quality players, and upgrading the roster via moves like this at reasonable $$$ are required, seeing that the minor league system has zero to offer, and the 'build-primarily-from DFA-trash' employed in 2013 was a miserable failure.

I could see Arod beating his suspension, Yankees Peralta, then open a Rite Aid Pharmacy on stadium grounds. Now getting serious signing Freese after watching his poor post season especially against Boston I'd have to say a low ball offer would be in effect. Yankees were able to buy low on Brosius in 98 (he hit .203 in 97). Freese's price may not be that exorbitant, and he might be a steal if he can rebound.

I feel he has had big moments in big games, is younger, and considering every frog has warts, I would like to see it. I am so sick of Arod that it angers me to think of him ever in a Yankee uniform again.

I remember Brosius once stating that in late '97 he was eating pizza and watching the playoffs, one year later he was the bomb in the '98 series. How about throwing Arod into the road and running over him. I can't imagine any scenario where Arod should be wearing a Yankee uniform ever again. If he loses his appeal, then that becomes a distinct possibility. If he wins, how can the organization really bring this cancer back into the clubhouse.

Yes Hammer it would, but there is a time, and I think Vette mentioned this in another post, and I couldn't agree more with the fact that the Yankees of the past 10 years, never cut their loses. So a 3.3 billion dollar entity would have to eat 66 million or 20+ million a year over the remaining 3 years (estimated) after the 200+ game ban is over. We are not going to win a WS in likelihood with or without Arod in 2014. Could it happen, The Red Soxs proved it could. I just think the rebuilding of the Post Core 4 era has to start with the philosophy that Watson, Michaels and whomever else you want to give credit to in the past created. First, find players of character, stay away from the all swing or nothing, and back to OBP type player. We have all said this over and over again, "get something out of the Minor Leagues". But this team because of Arod, not MLB, can't tell you today who will be on third opening day. How do you plan for this? And what type of example does Arod really bring to a clubhouse? It's not the Munson, Nettles, O'Niell etc fire or leadership... It's time to move on, I can really spend Hal's money well.

I realize that it would be radical, but do you really think he has anything left to offer on the field, I don't. With tongue in cheek, we need a catcher, Yogi is available, but he isn't going to make a difference on the field. If Arod was released, would another team sign him? If he took a contract let say of 5 million, sure. There is always one GM willing to pan for gold.
