Notice How to watch root sports without cable

with the way the Blazers are looking so far maybe its a blessing I can't watch and perhaps I will not bother for a while - let them prove to me they are a solid team before I mess around and change my streaming to get ROOT. I know its preseason but so far it appears a disaster

For the posters who wonder why executives like Neil play it safe instead of taking huge title or bust risks.

I'd assume whoever has the local contract, in the Blazers example root, has the local streaming rights.

Yes once the contract is signed but they were without a deal, it's convincible they could have started up their own streaming service and not signed with ROOT. I'm not sure there is a single MLB/NBA/NHL team that does this though. Not only would they be on the hook for all of the money it takes to run a broadcast, but now they have to go out and sell the advertisements, have to run the logistics and probably a million other headaches that they've never had to deal with. For an owner that from most reports are will be selling the team in the somewhat near future, it's not an investment she was probably willing to take on. So you grab the money from ROOT, most likely the only bidder, and run! At some point a team is going to go down this path (again assuming the league allows this) and it's going to be fascinating to see how well it works.

And just like that....

Sounds like root ironed out the kinks just in time.

well done, though it would be nice to get it all done a bit sooner so fans aren't on the edge of their seat trying to figure out what to do at the 11th hour.

Not all of them

I think somebody earlier was making fun of me for being happy that MORE people can now watch the team than last season. I believe as of right now that is very true. WAY more viewership now. Which in terms of business means the team makes MORE money from sponsors, which is the reason these games are being broadcasted.

Not all of them
And they never will.
I am going to find a link I was sent by the league showing how there are viewers in EVERY SINGLE MARKET OF EVERY SINGLE MAJOR LEAGUE SPORT (except the NFL) where viewers are missing out on seeing their teams locally because of how they are trying to watch. NOT ONE SINGLE major league market has this viewership issue ALL ironed out. #BigPicture

I'm glad more people can watch. Still waiting on Hulu. If it doesn't happen I'll figure it out

Not all of them

most though. And @THE HCP is correct. It will never be completely flawless as tv viewing continues to go more and more personalized to the viewer. They will never be on all platforms.

having them on these three is a great start. Add dish and a couple more streaming apps and there will be no more room for complaints. :)

LOL

So I have Fubo and I’ve set it to record all Blazers games but the first game it says it’s going to record is the Memphis game on Oct 28th! WTF? Is this real life? Anyone know why?

It's literally titled "How to watch root sports without cable"

Is Root added to their lineup yet? Maybe it won't be added until after the 1st game?

Its also "conceivable" the NBA players could form their own league with their own TV/streaming distribution rights and then they don't have to split any revenue with NBA owners.

Although, maybe neither one is realistically conceivable.

where are they going to play if they do that? The players don't own any stadiums. The owners and the public do.

Could play anywhere. People will tune in to watch NBA players even if they are playing on high school courts...

highschool gyms have the space and capacity for all the tv gear and what not?

do you think they liked playing in front of no one in the bubble? You think they Re going to like 2000 fans max in a high school gym?

not sure you are thinking about all the aspects going into airing a game for tv?

Will fans enjoy it as much in small gyms and thus become less interested?

why would they want to significantly downgrade what they have built up?

Yeah. Very unrealistic in my opinion. But all my opinions are wrong to you, so. Lol.

Lets not even get into the locker rooms or lack there of. Private entries… yeah no way the players are doing that.

Sure. I didn't say the players would want to. I simply said people would watch.

Isn't there already a thread about all of this?
I have the op on ignore. By the way, no one in this thread answered my question. I also meant to title my thread Fubo. People aren’t discussing it right now.

you enjoy picking apart my every post don't you?

:argument:
I don't consider that it's you posting.

But if you're going to disagree with my post for reasons completely unrelated to my actual post I'm usually going to clarify my position to prevent further misunderstanding.
