Yup, and with the sheer size of this thing, it'll have the storm surge of a CAT 4 hurricane. Hurricane Ike was devastating as a CAT 2 for the same reason. Same with Sandy as a CAT 1.

I've talked about this before but I'm still amused at the weather geeks at The Weather Channel....I mean I understand the need for radar and forecasts and such but do we really need 8-10 different people telling us essentially the same thing? The Weather Channel has got several meteorologists at different locations all along the East coast all telling us that the winds will gradually increase as will the rain...gee, thanx for the update.
...I'm also quite aware that during a hurricane it rains a lot and blows a lot...but do we really need Jim freaking Cantore standing on the beach wearing a parka telling us "Well, it's really blowing out here now"...?...yeah, no shit, Jim, now get your dumb ass back inside before the wind blows a "no parking" sign into your sternum.
...it really is funny to watch these people over-dramatize the weather...these guys get a hard on every time there's even a threat of a storm.

It eats up a lot of time and they don't have to pay the weathermen the same as the news casters and commentators.

When I watch the local news, I video copy it. In addition to fast forwarding through the commercials I also get to skip through the weather forcast and cut to the 7 day forecast. I just pause at the forecast, look it over and move on.
