Rivers of the world discharge about 36000 km3 of freshwater into the ocean every year. To investigate the impact of river discharge on climate, we have carried out two 100 year simulations using the Community Climate System Model (CCSM3), one including the river runoff into the ocean and the other excluding it. When the river discharge is shut off, global average sea surface temperature (SST) rises by about 0.5°C
So if you shut off all river runoff, Sea Surface Temperatures are affecting by tenths of a degree.

Are we reducing runoff by that much? No. Even then it would have 0 impact.

Get outta here with that... this shit is serious man.

MarAzul is willing to sacrifice the environment so liberals can enjoy their avocado toast.

You don't see liberals willing to make similar sacrifices for conservatives.

Liberals should make bullets in the shape of little avocados.

When it hits that Gulf stream, I expect you are probably right.
It's not in the gulf stream currently, but still over water warm enough to support that level of strength. Mostly, it's because of how this EWRC is looking.

Yes, the Sargasso Sea is pretty damn warm, but the Gulf stream is a bit more.

That could be very dangerous... This storm could park itself off the coast while it's radius continues to grow, maintain strength, and then move north. You'd be in a spot that would experience storm surge, and the boardwalk would get wrecked. That'd likely flood out that strip... I'm sure you know all this but I'd be worried.
What can a man do but prepare the best he can. I think the boardwalk stores could survive. Right now, it's not like Sandy from 012. Our town house was built in 84 with a crawl space which flooded under the first floor of every unit from that hurricane. I think we will get whacked with heavy rain but the superstorm is south of us so far. I hope for the best my friend. air-dancer-o.gif

The stalling element brings an uncertain element is all I'm saying. Looks like a beautiful boardwalk there.

Will this be a big hurricane or one of those that moved at the last minute and didn't do shit?

I was in Maui a few weeks ago when the hurricane was on its way. I left the morning it was starting to hit the islands. Anyway it’s a weird feeling when you know a storm like this is coming at you. Being a west coast for life guy I have never experienced major storms. Eerie feeling. Lived in the Bay Area during the earthquake in 1988 but you don’t have that ominous feeling that something is on its way.

Yeah, but since you know its on its way, can't you just get the fuck outta dodge? I mean an Earthquake is completely random, but this you get a few days to prepare. This seems a lot better, although some people can't get out because it costs money I guess...but some people are stubborn and want to stay by their house.

Not if you are on an island! But yeah, the people this week need to take the advice of getting out of town. Of course some people don’t have the means so they are screwed

It is going to be the strongest hurricane ever to hit north of Florida. Its gonna make hugo look small.
