They needed to get out... Might be too late now. We're talking about a 13ft of storm surge. I put this up before it was even a Tropical Depression so that others could notify relatives so they had time to evacuate.View attachment 22679
This is where their house is, by the way.
I really wish my sister would get her family out. So far they still plan on riding it out. I'm worried for them.
I'm not even gonna joke about this man. That situation is scary as shit.
...but they're literally in the dead center of a pretty certain cone for a Cat 2 hurricane with Cat 3, maybe even Cat 4 potential.
Predicted to make landfall as a CAT 2. Already has 50mph winds. If it can organize enough to efficiently make use of the warm GOM, then who knows.
They are about 25 ft above sea level. I have been trying to convince them to leave, and they told me that if it becomes a Cat 4 then they would in the morning. They still have time though, and the traffic isn't bad and have several places to go that are either inland or much farther north. I don't like them risking it though. They needed to get out... Does she have a two story house? If not, her entire house could be underwater...
Oh they have. My mom is an insurance agent. Haha. We get hassled by her until we do the right thing.@theprunetang They should take pictures of the outside and inside of their house for insurance purposes.
If the haven't, they should do so first thing tomorrow to be safe..
I assumed it was flat. That's not quite as bad. It's already a Cat 4, just gotta wait for the next update. They are about 25 ft above sea level. Before it even formed... Y'all need to trust me lol.Stock up now before its a huge hastle. The area will get hit a few days from now by a strong Tropical Storm at least, but it could be a Cat 3...

They are only 2 and a half blocks from St Andrew's Bay, but there is about a 20 ft bank down to the beach level. They are also on a slight uphill slant.I assumed it was flat. That's not quite as bad. It's already a Cat 4, just gotta wait for the next update.
It's extremely dangerous to leave too late. With how this thing caught many people by surprise, you could have a ton of traffic.. there's a lot of roads out though. If she evacuate, where would she go?
There are a ton of large roads that head out of town. Also, not an extremely large population. We have family and friends all throughout the area. They could visit my other sister in S. Carolina, visit friends in Tennessee, family in Annapolis, Texas, Georgia, etc.I assumed it was flat. That's not quite as bad. It's already a Cat 4, just gotta wait for the next update.

I'm unsure if the hillside has the chance of washing out or not. They are only 2 and a half blocks from St Andrew's Bay, but there is about a 20 ft bank down to the beach level. They are also on a slight uphill slant.
Yeah, but man... the outer bands are reaching yu coastline right now. They have a short window as is...There are a ton of large roads that head out of town. Also, not an extremely large population. Certain places down by Port St Jo could definitely be washed out. Mud and sand banks. The slope by her house is heavily wooded. The roots should hold the bank. My brother in law cut all dangerous branches near their property and boarded all windows already.I'm unsure if the hillside has the chance of washing out or not.

It officially is.But, I'm still trying to convince them to leave. She promised if it became a category 4 she would.
Oh I know. I'm monitoring this. I appreciate your updates as well though. I just texted her: "Category 4. Get out Raya".It officially is.
