Nurkic must be a legit super star, because the team looks like total shit without him. I had actually stopped watching the games for a couple months until he joined, and he re-ignited my interest, but this team is back to being total shit without him.

It's on Olshay for not getting this team more depth with the loss of Davis and Festus. This is entirely predictable and a something you to have contingency plans for. Having Tim Quarterman on the team and not a D League call up or other FA big is dumb move.

Agreed. It's mind boggling.

Completely agree... I watched maybe 3 games this year before Nurkic... With Nurkic on the roster I couldn't even miss a minute of action... now Blazers are unwatchable again...

Even worse now that they don't even have Plumdog.

Luxury tax. They aren't going to start their repeater tax just so they can sneak into the playoffs in 8th this year.

I think they could cut Quaterman and do a D League 10 day call up while staying under the tax threshold.

The maneuvering for another big should have been done before the trade deadline though.

Yeah, but why try to win now when you're like 10 games under .500 at the trade deadline? Better to let the Nurk trade stand and see what Meyers can do and then make your moves around the draft day instead.

Incorrect.
Tax level is $113.3M. Blazers salaries total $112.4M. There's enough room to sign a min salary player for a half-year without going over the line.

How does that jibe with the article that says we're 4,000 dollars under the luxury tax because of the bonus Mo will get for making a high percentage of threes?

What article is that?

Here is my reference for the tax level :

Here is the salary:

I was under the impression that all bonus incentives were included in the reported salaries.

No can do. Less than 10 days left in the regular season:

NBA Salary Cap FAQ said:
Teams cannot sign players to 10-day contracts that would extend past their last regular season game. In other words, after their 80th game (64th in 2011-12) or after the 10th day before their last regular season game (whichever comes first) teams can no longer sign 10-day contracts.

Half shit....

I agree. Nurk transformed the team into a legitimate inside outside game instead a need three team. Defensively we need his presence and most importantly, a rebounding big man who can pass is worth his weight in gold. With him absent all of these options and conditions are less. 030217_001_1.jpg

As soon as Ezeli was out for the season, Quarterman and other bench bait such as Layman or Cougnington(sp) should have been used as chum for another PF/C.

Ahhhh

The fair weather fan syndrome....
Good to know

I watch every game I can. Why? Because I'm a fan. Whether they win or lose. Whether they are good or bad.

People who turned their tv's off this year should be blacked out from next season.

gotta take the bad with good in life. and with your favorite team...

There's no wrong way to be a fan. I couldn't watch February because it hurt too much to see them lose and lose by just playing badly out there, uncompetitive in every aspect. That hurt. I wasn't a fair weather fan. It's because I cared that I couldn't bear it.

That was me during some of the Jailblazer years.

It's like when a family member is engaged in self-destructive behavior from which they won't turn away. You provide encouragement and support for as long as you can, but there comes a point where it becomes too painful to remain involved. Eventually, you have to disengage, for your own good as well as theirs.

I haven't watched a basketball game in 25 years....
