The only good JR Rider trade was the one that got us Steve Smith. This is why I loved Bob Whitsitt. He would take a big fucking swing. He would take a risk on a player with a checkered past. Someone like JR Rider.
I have a sneaky feeling that if Zion was on the Knicks or Lakers or another of the top market's, he would be a lot healthier...and probably in better shape. In 6 seasons, Zion has missed 258 games due to injury.
He has appeared in 214 games.
Why would it be any different in Portland? Unless he comes for cheap, no thanks.
i'll go you one more, they hadn't heard of deni. You know the majority of the Blazers fan base was pretty meh on Deni before he was traded here. Just saying….
Trader Bob had a blank check and zero cap restrictions with one of the wealthiest owners in the NBA..that is the biggest difference between him and GMs that followed. He wasn't a chemistry guy at all though...just best player available..he should be known as "blank check Bob"This is why I loved Bob Whitsitt. He would take a big fucking swing. Morant is a JR Rider.
Zion or LaMelo are a different kind of problem.
Trae would be the kind of scoring engine that we need.... but he's so small and also kind of a dick.
I'm not really excited about any of them but I can see the appeal.
In New Orleans they deep fry everything, even veggies. Recipe for disaster for a guy who obviously has an appetite and very little self controlI have a sneaky feeling that if Zion was on the Knicks or Lakers or another of the top market's, he would be a lot healthier...and probably in better shape.
THE wealthiest owner in all of pro sports, I believe. And I believe at the time he was the wealthiest by a lot.Trader Bob had a blank check and zero cap restrictions with one of the wealthiest owners in the NBA..that is the biggest difference between him and GMs that followed. Grant sounded unhappy -- boohoo -- he is making what like over 30 m a year and when he did play except for maybe a handful of games and being generous at that he was average to bad so ya -- fuck Grant and him being unhappy. Did someone stick a gun to his head to re-sign with the Blazers ?? -- nope
If they think they are only getting "an OK backup" then I would for sure trade the pick. There have to be higher expectations with the 10th pick than 'ok backup'.I'll be surprised if the Blazers trade the pick. We saw with #3 how little value it had for proven NBA players. At #10 your probably not getting a starting level player, maybe you get an ok backup. But your missing that upside of an all-star that happens all the time in the lottery while never for backup veterans.
People point to the Deni trade, but that 2024 pick wasn't even the most valuable pick in the trade, Brogdon was coming off being the Blazers most effective player, and Deni improved much more than many of us or likely Washington expected.
My impression is that NO is just sick of him and it would not take that much to get him.Zion is still intriguing to me. Yes risky but talent wise he’s elite and yes exactly the type of player that would make us contenders. Sure the cost would be more than we are willing to pay. Guessing Tou, Deni or Sharpe and at least 2 1st rounders

It would still take Jerami Kris and Rob plus this year's pick and maybe a swapMy impression is that NO is just sick of him and it would not take that much to get him.
As long as this year's pick is 9 or later then sign me up for that one.It would still take Jerami Kris and Rob plus this year's pick and maybe a swap
No way would I give up Sharpe and two FRPs. They can have the two FRPs and keep Olynyk.Of the risky players — and there’s a good number of them — if Zion physically is good, putting him with Clingan, Deni, Toumani, and Scoot is a serious move. Billups may be just the right coach for Zion. A Zion whisperer.
The 9/10 + another 1st, Grant, Sharpe, TimeLord for Zion and KO? If it worked — stand by. If the medicals are good … yes?

I mean... We have great food...“Zion Williamson's rehab in Portland was described as a private matter, and he's publicly stated he "enjoyed" his time there. While the specifics of his rehab process are kept private, HoopsHype reported that it was a lengthy process, both physically and mentally.”
Zion loved Portland according to Chris Haynes
Think about all the knocked up strippers in Portland if we bring Zion to town.Agree, but that does not mean other teams won't offer more to get him.
Great food?I mean... We have great food...
In Portland. If New Orleans is sick of him he can at least still enjoy some good food in PortlandGreat food?
three negative assets and a pick is not bad!It would still take Jerami Kris and Rob plus this year's pick and maybe a swap
Gotta attach a pick to get rid of Ayton. I think Ant is an asset that can be traded for assets. Jerami IMO would have to go to a team looking for a last piece to fit a championship puzzle.
That team would have to not care about going over the cap.
If we really want rid of Ayton just let him expire next year. No need to give up anything.Gotta attach a pick to get rid of Ayton. I think Ant is an asset that can be traded for assets. Jerami IMO would have to go to a team looking for a last piece to fit a championship puzzle.
