If Boozer doesn't opt out, does that make it harder for the Jazz to keep Milsap

Does anybody know if Boozer decides to not opt out if that would have any effect on Utah's ability to re-sign Milsap? He was supposed to decide today and I have not heard anything yet. :pimp:
 
I heard on the radio this morning that OKC could offer Milsap 5/$65m

That's insane. All of a sudden OKC is a respectable franchise.

PG: Westbrook
SG: Harden
SF: Durant
PF: Milsap
C: Collison (?)
 
I saw Korver decided to not opt out too, that is more money on their cap.
 
I'd say so. They're at $72M without Milsap. They can't let Jarron Collins, Brevin Knight, Ronnie Price, and Morris Almond all walk. So, they'd have to take on at least another three players to even out the roster. You're then adding another $2M maybe in salary. That puts them up to $74M without Milsap. They're already over the luxury tax limit, and since the threshold is supposed to go down to the mid $60Ms, I don't see how they could afford Milsap. They'll be paying twice as much for him.
 
If Boozer opts out, the only real places he could go to who would offer him that max-type contract are OKC, Memphis and Detroit.. not exactly primetime destinations now. I think there's a chance he could stay and not give up that $12.7 million, although I think Jazz fans soured on him when he said he was going to test the FA market.
 
I think they already let Brevin Knight go. They do not need him now that they drafted a backup PG.

I don't understand when fans get pissed at a player when they test the free agent waters. All they are doing is what is best for them and their family. Any fan out there would do the same if in that position and it made sense money-wise.
 
I am sure that Utah would love for Boozer to opt out. I think that Sloan loves Milsap and would prefer to keep him. With the owner passing and the ownership in flux, I would doubt they sign Milsap if Boozer opts in. Just too expensive with this economy and with the reported dollars that OKC will throw at Milsap.

Actually they can let those four players walk and they probably will regardless. They want Boozer to opt out, but it does not look like he will. Okur may as well, but his agent is in town talking with the Jazz. If Boozer opts in, my guess is they will match Milsap and trade Boozer.

You think he would make that much of a difference for them? I'm not so sure. They be moving Green, their #2 scoring option and #1 rebounder (I believe, currently), to the bench. Millsap is a nice luxury to have off the bench but he's not worth that money IMO. He's undersized, rebounds well but has almost no offensive game. And they are going to paid him with their undersized, no scoring C. No thanks, they're better off saving up to buy a C who can compliment Green.
