I know it sounds stupid, but think about it for a moment...

Nate wants experience, a pass first PG, one who can really push the ball and can handle the pick & roll. That's Ford. I recall another PG the league had fully written off before he landed in Detroit. And Billups led them to a title.

We could get him cheap as well.

Considering the fact that Jack passed him in the rotation? No thanks.

That was the first thing that came into my mind.

Secondly, think of just how many times he's been traded or moved in his short career? The guy has some serious red flags attached with respect to his character.

Are you out of your mind? After having eight years of opposing point guards posting up ours on a nightly basis, you want to make a run at another sub 6' guy?

Nate McMillan wants a pass-first PG who can really push the ball and handle the pick and roll? :biglaugh:

I think you have Nate confused with me.

The Blazers ran about 10 pick and rolls total all last year, all run successfully by Sergio who is most definitely a pass-first PG who can really push the ball and handle the pick and roll, and who also outplayed TJ convincingly.

Nate wants a PG who listens to him rather than thinks, who walks when he could run, who hands off at the top of the key because passing is too risky.

I'm convinced that you don't even watch the games.

Please, those of you who claim all Nate runs is isolation and pick & roll please jump in on this convo. We have on guy who says we ran it 10 times in one season, and others who say we run it all game.

i would disagree that he has serious red flags about his character. he does, however, have some serious red flags against his health.

Character issues

Contract

Injuries

Do not want.

As long as we are talking Indiana point guards, how about Jamaal Tinsley? I think he would come cheap :)

Outlaw/Rudy/Bayless would work for him. Pull the trigger! :ghoti:

:drumroll:

You couldn't be 100% more WRONG.

I'd say Maris has a point in that Nate primarily runs the pick and pop, not roll. In any case... just say no to TJ Ford, he sucks and has a bad attitude.

No thanks to Ford as well. The guy is one major fall away from having his career finished. I haven't heard too much about character issues, but he's just not a good enough player.

We did run a bunch of Pick and Rolls. Unfortunately, since Blake doesn't like to pass the ball to the 7' tall people in the paint (perhaps camouflaged by wearing "Blazer" uniforms) there wasn't a whole lot of "roll" associated with our P&Rs. And the majority were pick-and-pops to LMA.
