Good also. I'm not as high on Batum as most of the rest of you

I saw some things from Nic during the playoffs that I was really pleased with. I actually think his ability to play point and defend point guards makes him a great backcourt mate for Dame. Let Dame play the scoring guard role and use Nic as the point forward. It's very Bulls circa 1990's.

You don't think a team with Dame/Wiggins/Nic/Monroe/Rolo could make the playoffs? I don't know if I agree. I think there would definitely be a step back, but I don't think it would be that bad.

Wiggins wll be a superstar sooner rather than later. He and Lillard would dominate. It's a wing league

That could work

this is such fantasy basketball talk but while we are talking about it lets get two things straight.

1. wiggins is NOT a sg, hes a bonafide SF
2. jabari parker is NOT a pf. he is an even more bonafide SF

did anyone watch these guys play this year? wiggins has a ton of upside but he is a couple years away.
jabari is going to be able to score right away but will he be able to do as much as batum does all around? the answer is a definite no....

Labels don't matter. All that matters is that I think Dame/Nic can play with either of them.

Questioning if we watched just causes friction, so let's stay away from that shit.

Wiggins is projected by most scouts to play SG

And it really doesn't matter because Dame and Nic can play pretty much either guard position.

Jabari Parker, the last thing we need is another guard. We would be going after a cheap replacement for Lamarcus. Am I wrong?

Not cheap. The target, imo, would be Monroe. Obviously he's not on the same level as LA, but he's more than adequate.

My opinion is this:

I can honestly go either way. I'm totally fine with keeping LA, signing some vets this summer, and making another run next season.

My concern is that LA is going to get fucking paid next summer and despite what some people say, I don't think he's worth that much money. If he was 26 or 27, I would be totally fine with it, but he'll be turning 30. He will keep declining, even if it's a minimal decline, but it's going to happen.

So if the idea is to trade him, I'm fine with dealing him to Cleveland for cap space THIS SUMMER. I looked at the free agent list for next summer and there isn't much there. If we could clear his 14 million off the cap going into this free agent class, we could actually make a pretty nice contract offer to someone like Greg Monroe.

Dame
Wiggins
Batum
Monroe
Rolo

Maybe that team takes a slight step back from this past season, but going forward that team is ridiculously young and talented. But like I said, I'm totally fine with keeping LA because I think we're a bench away from contending next season. We could use our MLE and our BAE to sign a few pieces and keep going.

I have to agree, if LMA really gets paid 127 mil for 5 yrs that IMO is simply way too much, especially for a guy who will be on the north side of 30 for that deal. Look how many guys who have signed big deals at similar ages and I can show you some albatross contracts. Yeah "maybe" his skills stay the same and he does not get hurt, but he is not "good enough" IMO to take that risk.

He won't be on the north side of 30. In fact, he will probably sign the contract before he turns 30. His birthday is July 19th. He's turning 29 this summer and then 30 next summer.

Parker is a SF (Carmelo Anthonyesque)

From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jabari-Parker-6299/

Outlook: Shows tremendous scoring instincts at 6-9, but with his thick frame, is looking more and more like a power forward these days than a small forward. Has the type of body that can get out of shape quickly, which may be a concern long term. Never been an overly explosive athlete, so must do everything he can to maximize himself physically. Remains to be seen how much more upside he still has to grow into.

Great. So Parker is a tweener. That always ends well...

So, trade LMA for a draft pick, and then use the cap space to offer another All-Star max money? Is that how this works? Or use the cap space to get a bunch of role players, and hope that in a few years the draft pick is an All-NBA type player?

Wiggins info from Draft Express.com http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Andrew-Wiggins-6191/

Wiggins is very much an unrefined offensive player, but still scored a solid 21 points per-40 minutes as a freshman, even if his usage rate and efficiency were average. He's for the most part a straight-line ball-handler, as the ball slows him down and doesn't do a great job changing speeds or directions, particularly with his off hand, but is capable of getting inside the paint effectively regardless thanks to his exceptionally quick first step. Even though he tends to shy away from contact at times around the basket, he still got to the free throw line 7.9 times per-40 minutes, and made 78% of his attempts once there, which helped make up for his otherwise unpolished skill-level in the half-court.

As a shooter, Wiggins is somewhat of a mixed bag. His mechanics are very good and he's a capable shooter with both his feet set or off the dribble, even if the results are inconsistent at this point—as he converted just 34% of his 3-point attempts on the year. His shot-selection leave something to be desired at times, he has a tendency for settling for long contested jumpers, but should be able to develop into a very solid outside shooter in time as long as he puts the work in.

Defensively, Wiggins is already extremely effective. His combination of size, length, lateral quickness and solid intensity gives him the potential to develop into a multi-positional lockdown perimeter defender in the NBA, particularly as he matures and gets stronger.

To reach his full potential, NBA teams will want to see Wiggins become more aggressive with the way he approaches the game. He has somewhat of a laid-back demeanor on the floor, which can be seen in the way he finishes around the basket at times, his tendency for shying away from contact, and his propensity for settling for long jumpers. He looks reluctant at times to just explode down the lane and dunk on people, which his physical tools suggest he should be able to much more frequently than he does. Part of that might have to do with his youth, lack of experience and strength.

To his credit, Wiggins only recently turned 19 years old, and is obviously nowhere near a finished product. His tremendous scoring instincts and defensive prowess give him outstanding two-way potential, and that, coupled with his incredibly rare physical tools, makes it very easy to see why he's such a coveted prospect.

Matchups against the likes of Florida, Duke, Villanova, San Diego State, Iowa State, Baylor and Oklahoma State have given us ample opportunity to evaluate Wiggins' very defined strengths and weaknesses as a prospect, which we've done in the following video scouting report, courtesy of Mike Schmitz.

So, in some instances, the Blazers are taking 3 role players from one of the worst teams in the NBA (but not their best player), and a crapshoot #1 pick, for LMA, and then are hoping to sign a star player to a max deal using cap space?

Which star free agent is going to want to come to Portland to play with a 3rd year PG (albeit a very good one), a rookie, and a bunch of role players?
