LOL at surrender.

Trump’s military slaughtered ISIS in Syria.

Our military has bigger threats to crush.
When you say bigger threats, do you mean Mueller and his team? 'Cause I know you don't mean Russia.

Trump has no military. He can only direct them in a broad way but cannot direct them into a war. Think of him as a General who takes orders from the Constitution, the Senate and the American electorate. The Senate takes orders from the Constitution and the electorate.
"In 1973, at the end of the Vietnam War, Congress tried to reclaim some of its eroding authority by enacting the War Powers Resolution, overriding President Richard M. Nixon’s veto of the law. It says a president may only introduce forces into hostilities with congressional authorization or if the United States has been attacked."

I feel like you can't quote the War Power Resolution without also stating that it's never been enacted, it's constitutionality is in question, no Chief Executive of either party has ever acknowledged its power (in fact, stating that it removes Constitutionally-derived powers from the Executive) and multiple lawsuits from Congress to use it have been denied (including by the Supreme Court in 2000).
The President has the military. Should Congress choose to not fund its overseas operations, it's well within Congress' right to do so. Frankly, if Congress said tomorrow "we're selling or mothballing every ship, tank and airplane in the force, and only funding troop levels of 500 officers and 5,000 enlisted soldiers" (getting rid of the Air Force and Navy and Marine Corps), they can do so. I'll leave without stating my opinion of whether (if?) Congress should do so.

They'd certainly want to keep the Space Force also, wouldn't they? I mean, the Army is great and all, but the Space Force is where it's at.

meh...what the hell does 800M over 5 years do? That won't even cover the Blazers' payroll over the next 5 years.

This is the first open-source map of the like I've seen published (from an NGO, posted by the BBC). This tracks fairly closely with products that can't be posted here:

Many of the relatively-small number of forces there are not, shall we say, "regular" forces. At this point they're advising, which carries its own level of danger and risk-v-reward setup.

I don't want to (can't?) comment on why? and should we? and surrender! and the like, but I've seen commentary in a few places that ISIS is still roaming the countryside at large. That part isn't true.

I'm sure you guys who follow MSM more than I do have seen plenty of examples of this, but I chuckled when I saw another friend post this earlier.

This is just some weird shit to say...
It was in jest. Prove to me that the security of the US is at risk long term by getting our troops out.

My army vet buddy is pissed at Trump now because he loves Mattis.

I've wanted our troops out of the Middle East forever.

We literally have vets alive today that need penis transplants because of being over there. FUCK THAT.

Rebels or guerilla forces fade into the wood, desert, wherever and regroup...ISIS, Taliban, Hamas, etc...maps aren't a clear picture of how many ISIS followers are in the region....the British made this mistake during the American revolution thinking the farmers disbanded so they got careless. Viet Cong did this as well...blend in with the locals, hide in the jungle and regroup to strike. Terrorists are usually patient. They'll plan things a long time in advance ..The idea tha Al Qaida or Hamas or ISIS are defeated because of any battle is to not understand that they are scattered all over the globe in cells...their war knows no borders...then they suddenly pop up in a region and start taking back territory...it's no wonder Mattis thinks Trump is clueless because well....he's clueless.

ISIS has gone underground in the Middle East. Will they make a comeback? Probably, but I can't say for certain.

You just wrote a long post that demonstrates exactly why doing this ASAP is right.

We can stay there forever and push them into hiding but we'll never get rid of them.

Some things aren't really fixable. This is like gluing something together and as long as you hold it together it seems ok.

As soon as you let go it falls apart.

We never should have been there. What a waste of personnel and resources. Besides this, the strategy put our country in a precarious position against The Russian backed regime.

We were put in this position because we didn't seal the borders when we invaded Iraq and many of these guys got asylum from Assad. Bush dropped the ball on this one. I never wanted troops there at all but the way to leave is to usually at least inform your generals

I agree with that, let Russia & Ashad deal with ISIS in that region.

I just wrote my post to point out ISIS is more than likely not defeated because of a colored map...

What happened to Al Qaeda? Haven't heard from them in awhile. They must have disappeared into the ocean with Osama.

I'm completely against war. But when you make promises to your allies you keep them.

Now, Drumpf is proving to be Putin's bitch.

And AGAIN what y'all are failing to understand is the Kurds are our allies and we're just up and leaving them to die. @bodyman5000 and 1 says we should bring them here... Yeah... That'll work well with all the racist MAGA hat wearing MFs here... They'll just be labeled terrorists...

I'm fine with pulling out of Syria as long as we kill Assad on the way out. The fucker is killing women and children with chemical weapons. If we don't want them fleeing to Europe then we should make sure it's not a death sentence for them to stay there. Kill Assad, drone, CIA, cruise missile, whatever. We do not allow innocent women and children to be killed especially with something as horrible as chemical weapons.

And what happens when it falls apart? Another 9-11? Avoiding another 9-11 is worth some extra effort on our part.

Assad is a major reason for the existence of ISIS. Getting rid of him ought to be one of our highest priorities.

Exactly as well as having a game plan other than trump waking up one morning and on his own just make a major announcement like that. He should also discuss it with our allies in the region and come up with a best approach game plan for now and in the future. Trump has no clue what to do cause he doesn't listen to anyone.

I don't care if they bring them here. If someone else in my family promises you something that I in good conscience can't follow through with I'll at least try and figure out a solution.

Ask them what they want us to do for them.

I didn’t realize so many of you made the sacrifice to serve for our country. Props to you.
I was in high school when Bush's first gulf war was started for no reason..

My crazy uncle was still crazy from being sent to Vietnam for no reason...

I feel terrible for all of the people who've joined our military for good reasons only to be used as pawns.

I wasn't of age when Muhammed Ali made his famous statement about going somewhere to kill brown people who'd never done anything to him. Apparently he was labeled a traitor back then but I know I'd have agreed with him..

Yes and staying there indefinitely and pointing to a map that shows they hold NO territory and then leaving will be futile. As you say they'll be patient and come back.
