Many of the relatively-small number of forces there are not, shall we say, "regular" forces. At this point they're advising, which carries its own level of danger and risk-v-reward setup.
I don't want to (can't?) comment on why? and should we? and surrender! and the like, but I've seen commentary in a few places that ISIS is still roaming the countryside at large. That part isn't true.
