Quick is admittedly not a salary cap numbers guy. He would be the first to tell you he is just guessing at how all the contracts would work out. What he is talking about is at least in the right direction though unless there is a trade and he did say "..it could be." when asked if someone would have to be renounced. Portland just doesn't have the cap room for anything near $15-20M unless Meyers or Harkless is renounced.

They need a defensive center that can finish around the rim. He fits the bill. He does have injury issues but that's probably the reason we might be able to get him. Not everything is a panic move.

Given that there are few teams (if any) with cap space left that need a center, Neil should and likely will take that into consideration when offering him a deal. Given his knee history, I can't believe he would get a 4-year deal at $20M per.
