I really don’t see the point of these threads. Nobody changes their opinion. Feelings are hurt. People are angry. I don’t see the value.
 
A gay Florida teacher tweeted intent to continue listening to any student who wishes to talk about their sexual orientation or gender identity and would keep conversation confidential, regardless of don't say gay law. Right did typical freakout about how teachers are dying to talk about sex.
Laura Ingraham, who began her political career in college by outing gay students to their parents, repeated the filth about gays recruiting children.
Florida considers us so horrible children cannot know we exist. By which they mean straight cis children. The others don't matter.

Someday I'll have the wherewithal to describe the nuances between being a bigot, being a supporter of systemic bigotry, being complicit in bigotry, and benefitting from bigotry. It's not today. Sufficed to say, you're probably not a bigot, but if you are an active supporter of bigoted policies, you're still doing plenty of damage, all while being able to comfort yourself in saying you aren't a bigot personally.

I hope your mother-in-law feels better soon.

I appreciate those thoughts, YT. This is the type of dialog I hope to continue to share in. That said, the term bigot is such a wide-ranging word. Covers so many facets of our societies. As a Christian believer, there is a lot of bigotry towards me, as well. Same for Jesus, who was murdered because, well, folks just couldn't accept who He was. Anyway, I digress, and don't want to turn this into a Christian debate. It's not.

Thanks for the kind thoughts regarding my MIL. The hospital is running a bunch of tests on her. We believe what she's going through now is in some part due to her congestive heart issues. We shall see.

In actuality, Alex is my great-nephew. My Niece is divorced and moved with her boyfriend from Utah to Seattle. Alex wants to be with her (and not the unsupportive father)...and has recently moved to Seattle, as well. Collectively, they've been working hard to find a supportive school for Alex. They though they had found a wonderful, accepting private school on Friday Harbor Island, WA, but unfortunately, Alex was kicked out. I'm not certain of the reason(s) and, thus far, they're not talking about it. I didn't want to pry.

This all said, the family is absolutely committed to loving and supporting Alex at every turn. How is that manifested in practice? It's a very good question. Myself, being so far away am supportive in spirit, as it were. Supportive in that whomever Alex wants to be, I'll be accepting and, when possible, participate in whatever activities/environments Alex chooses. All along, my main concern regarding transgender-related situations is, where are the parent(s) in all of this. They have every right (and I believe, crucial) to be involved and not potentially deemed as also-rans or insignificant bystanders by societal systems, etc.
 
ABM, please tell me which state legislatures are banning Christian worship.

States that have banned transgender health care are now considering laws that would make it a crime for residents to go out of state for health care.

ABM, are any states making it a crime for you to attend church out of state?

IMO, bigotry and prejudice can be interchangeable terms. I've been called a kook, crazy, stupid, weak, weird, etc. And I'm not necessarily talking about in here Although, I've been called a few things.

Please, though, as I mentioned in my post to @YamTastic, my intention was not to make this a debate comparing Christians to whomever. It was not. Yam, correctly commented that, indeed, bigotry is a wide-ranging word. I really enjoy chatting with her.

I haven't seen you called anything in here. I've seen you challenged and asked tough questions, at which point you generally lose interest in the conversation.

Fine. Some in here have yuk yuk'd that, "Thank god I'm an atheist" and other such barbs, which might be considered a prejudice remark by others. Really, it's no big deal to me, but when we're talking what might be considered insulting to another person, notes could be taken.

Me including the context of being a Christian and dealing with what might be considered prejudiced comments around that fact has very little to do with me being called a racist, hater, or the like. And, as far as that's concerned, I'm still not convinced that posts haven't been deleted.....leaving no record of such. I'm sure you have no control over your fellow mods.

ABM does not like what @crandc posted. It's very clear. He also doesn't like that I liked the post. That is very clear.

But he incrementally starts exaggerating/falsely stating what @crandc said about him in her post.

He claims she called him a hater. Then a racist. Then a bigot.

....

Now he claims that I or someone else on staff have intentionally deleted the post where @crandc called him a racist.

1. This would be very obvious in the discussion. Again, I invite everyone to read the exchange in this thread.

2. He also claims a staff member could delete a post, a post that he claims I liked, and that I would never know. (That would also mean that this same evil mod erased my memory of the post and me liking it.) That is completely false. The internet and this website logs all actions. As an admin I do have a record of everything that staff does. This is built right into the software. As linked above, this drama started last Sunday, March 6th, 2022. Here is the log of all actions taken by staff in this thread:

Come on ABM, you made so very serious false accusations against Crandc. Instead of just admitting you made a mistake, or misread something, or were just having a bad couple of days, you then claim that the staff here is entered into some giant conspiracy to coverup what Crandc never said in the first place.

That's just wrong. This isn't about defending Crandc. She does a fine job of defending her views, opinions, and posts. This is about making false accusations against someone. I would do the same for you if someone made similar claims.
 
A Florida gay high school student wrote an op ed in New York Times. A couple of years ago he was surrounded by a group of homophobic bullies who verbally and physically abused him. He ran into a classroom and cried on the shoulder of his teacher, who comforted him and told him she had gone through similar experiences in her school days.
That conversation will now be illegal.

I said that I've been called a hater and/or racist in here. As it it relates to her, I've been called a hater. That said, I'm calling her prejudiced towards me based upon the, "Thank god I'm an atheist" remark. She knows who that was aimed for.
