Pericles is a terrible person. But somehow the fact that you all "love" that he abuses your great nephew for the crime of being trans isn't really all that surprising.

Actually, Pericles is an awesome person. Alex loves him and loves being around him. Conversely, if you were to label someone a "terrible" person, it would be Alex's biological father, who didn't seem to have time nor concern for Alex.
 
Probably also worth noting that Pericles and his kids died of the plague.

Well, get back to us with the results in 20 or so years. Abuse by parents and stepparents often has long-term effects, the metric isn't just "is the child smiling right now?"

I don't need a fancy car, a fat bank account, rich friends, a rich house or a rich income. Nope, all I need is my wife, family and church. Believe me I'm happy beyond my wildest dreams with just that. Of course, having those wealthy things helps but not necessary.

I once knew an ambulance driver who was operated on to change from a woman to a man. Nicest guy you ever met. Wanted to join the Army but Trump said no. I haven't seen him in quite a while. I'll bet he finally was able to achieve his dream and join the Army under Biden.

Actually, Alex is taking to the construction/demo tasks under the tutelage of Pericles. I'll put it to you this way, they're "bonding" miraculously....

The deal is, Pericles has taken Alex under his wing. Sure there are a few reasonable house rules, accountability, and all that, but Alex still has a choice: He can stay put....or go back and live with his Dad (who, BTW, is celebrating, even pushing the trans lifestyle on Alex). Thus far, Alex has chosen to live with Pericles and his mother. He's craved a relationship with his father. He's actually getting one with Pericles. Go figure.
 
Good ...when all is said and done the kid will be a trans with muscles and a tool belt....females also work in the construction field...in the meantime we should clearly explain the difference between the OT section and Facebook...not sure some can separate the two very well. I seriously doubt Alex dad is "pushing" trans culture on a teenager...teens rebel against mom and dad pretty often....it could be that rather than looking up to ABM's manly man...there's quite another attraction at play here. I've heard only Mike Pence can do conversions like you're wishing for...pray the gay away or whatever he does.I just hope for the kid's sake that joy can be found in life beyond the judgements of the relatives

We all want the very best for Alex and will support his decision. That said, his mother and Pericles are throwing opportunities his way for him to consider. The whole construction demo thing was Pericles' idea. This is the Seattle home Alex would/will be living in, so there's a personal investment/satisfaction in that regard. I don't make suggestions as it relates to Alex, other than the idea of taking the kid camping. That's not really feasible at this point, though, as school starts soon and we're in Nashville.

What is "the trans lifestyle"? Does every trans person have the same lifestyle? Is ABM living "the cis lifestyle"?

It is a little strange how doing "manly" things, or construction, apparently means straight in this world. Because god knows no LGBTQ knows how to do construction, do "guy things", change a tire, spark plugs, oil, build things, etc.

Thats for them straights!

the dynamic that seems to be in flux is your take on Trans identity...and letting everyone know how difficult it seems to be for you to accept. After all that doubt you post you will accept if he/she's trans and support that but the way you got to that post shows more than a little confusion...crandc is not confused about this issue...cutting the crap is your job when it comes to this topic..my 2 cents...

Thanks for all the insights. The real message in all of this, though, is that Alex is craving relationship - something he hasn't received from his biological father. Meanwhile, Pericles has stepped up, more or less taken Alex under his wing, and doing some fun, constructive things with him....which, apparently, Alex is enjoying doing.

Yeah, it is difficult for me. I mean, just look at the thread title. So what? Just because I don't personally agree with something, though, doesn't mean I won't be accepting of others' personal choices/values.. Oh, and per my other comments, above, Alex is seemingly enjoying his new digs....and he has a choice in the matter. Always will.

All that might be true, but having a "relationship" with a male (positive/negative, whatever) doesn't change who someone is sexually/gender wise. It might effect what kind of RELATIONSHIPS you have (healthy, unhealthy etc), but a bad relationship with a mother or father isn't going to all the sudden turn someone gay/trans, etc.
 
I’m pretty confused what working with tools has to do with gender identification, but hey what do I know I don’t even have Facebook
