Re: Kingspeed is not happy with the team right now.

Hughes is the big man coach, not the defensive coach.

And looking at the career year Lopez is having I think he's doing some good.

Stotts did away with the title defensive coach when Kaleb left, I know he's the big man coach.

Re: Kingspeed is not happy with the team right now.

That is the reason you're going with in order to justify the assistant coach change of guard? :dunno:

Nobody is happier with the team than I am and I love Stotts but yes...I think the team needs and elite defensive coach like Thibbs was under Rivers. We have a very poor defensive record this season. It's something I think rarely gets addressed. Meyers is 21-22? He is really talented and really lost defensively. On his contract, I'd get him the best guy out there. Rockets were smart to get Hakeem on their bench.

Who rarely addresses it? Because we sure as hell do, the media sure as hell does, and I'm sure the team is sure as hell sick of hearing about it.

Meyers had a chance to work on his defense during the summer. Was he playing video games instead?

Yes, many people address that issue and some are labeled as being negative when doing so.

I don't mind negativity when it's based in truth when it concerns this team. When it's just flapping gums for the sake of ulterior motives, that's where I draw the line.

Assistant coach threads? Not since I joined here in Nov and I've never heard or read about it on any sports site concerning the Blazers. If my posts bore you, you have the option to ignore them. Use it.

I need to learn the meaning of "ulterior motives" then I'll understand your parameters.

This thread was originally titled, Fire Stotts, so do you draw the line there? Is that negativity based in truth?

Sadly, he was working on his three ball.

We need to hire a big man coach to teach him how to do the dirty work on defense. He has all the tools, just not a clue on how to use them. And defense CAN be taught. Instinct can be substituted by learned behavior. It's certainly not too late for Meyers to develop those skills.

I remain intrigued by a backup 4/5 combo of Robinson and Leonard. They're both so athletic. Robinson is great down on the block and Leonard has a terrific mid-range game. I really think they could grow together.

First things first, however. Leonard needs to get his ass in the paint and start banging. He needs to crash the boards and then hustle down and think what he can do defensively.
