I'll just pipe in to say that there were several posters here who argued strongly that Aldridge should be traded before that potentially special season, because of innuendo and in some cases inside knowledge that he wanted out and was not going to re-sign here.

As for during the season, based on the season the team was having and especially because of (I believe false) statements by Aldridge that he wanted to stay and be the best Blazer blah blah blah, I would concur that the Blazers hands were tied and there would have been a larger fan revolt had the Blazers traded him during that season.

To me it kinda doesn't matter any more. Bad things sometimes happen to good people. Like us ;)

And sometimes, something we thought was a bad thing turns out to be a good thing.

There were a few people on O-Live who also wanted to trade Aldridge prior to that season. However, it had nothing to do with his contract they just didn't like him as a player. They had been saying the same thing every summer before that too.

See I disagree. Eveyrone knows mood can change. HE should have been by LMA's side and feeling him out. Forcing the truth out of him.

Its all speculation. Im done with this thread for now... not enough mature posters like yourself.

You can't force the truth out of a reclusive liar. Get real.

We can only blame TT for his lie. Stop blaming NO for trying to do what you wanted, convince TT to stay.

Were you ever in the "trade Aldridge before he bolts" camp?

I respect most opinions... what I don’t respect is people who think Blazers fans deserve less, and don’t think anyone should be held accountable for the complete and utter failure of getting swept in the 1st round of the playoffs. I don’t have all of the answers, but I believe in accountability in life. The Blazers failed because someone didn’t do their job, so someone needs to take the fall to show fans the that they deserve better... I don’t respect some Neil Olshey fanboy making excuses for everything...

You're a broken record...

Not in either. Just sick of people being so adamant that they are right on something that no one has all the facts on, especially when their counter argument is that the opposition is a speculation... such blatant double standards I find it hard to zip my lip at times. I am like you in that regard. :)

I don't blame NO, but I also don't care for his sleazy spins. I blame Lamarsha and his weak mindset. If he was tougher inside there never would have been an internal argument within him.

However....

To stand by while an atrocity takes place and you become an accomplice. ;)

The reason everyone is fixated on Aldridge is...nothing has happened since. If Olshey had been active, like a normal GM, there would have been so many fixes and transactions, we would have forgotten Aldridge and moved on to better things. But since Olshey doesn't believe in working for his paycheck, all we have to talk about in the last 50 or 100 years is the Aldridge event.

If my History teacher had been Olshey, History would have been the easiest subject in school. Nothing to study except Aldridge. Olshey is a big bore.

Ok, everyone in this thread: meet at 7pm tonight at Mt Tabor.

Its your overall demeanor. I wouldn't expect you to understand though...

Its your belittling and talking down. Get it, don't get it. I don't give a shit. I know I am right and you are wrong.
I'm sorry man... we've had 20 people try to tell him.

Dude, take a look in the mirror. That's not a face of an innocent person and your meltdowns are now reaching legendary status. I have avoided your posts for the most part and then you go ballistic in this thread cause I "lol" and put you in a "group". Toughen up buttercup as I'm not going sit around and take your shit. :biglaugh: :smack:

Sigh...
I know. We will all just have to put up with yours....

The thing is...... you’ve typed this SAME post 5 times a day for the past month. Trust me, we get it.

Don't worry buttercup. You quit with the bullshit and we won't have any issues.

By the way, your use of "we" indicates you put yourself in a group.

We've been invaded by traitors who oppose improving the Blazers. No problem. The board needs summer posts from wherever it can find them. Sly brilliantly invited his former buddies from O-Live, and will ban them when the board gets hot again in September. This is a good money-making strategy, and I want Denny to invite all Laker trolls to post here all summer.

That would be awesome. Save me from having to drive there tonight from Tualatin. :)
Swung by there yesterday. Covered court still exists and is still accessible. Parking lot on the north side of the school.

Huh? Olshey completely remade the starting lineup after Aldridge left... and we made the playoffs when nobody thought we would.

Since the quickie patch job a week after Aldridge left (when he got some career substitutes by paying them their career highs), the only change has been the Plumlee-Nurkic trade (when he traded a starter for a malcontent sub, no talent required there). Olshey trades only when economics forces him. Never to simply improve the team.

On the Aldridge thing; is it possible that Olshey let his giant ego and his need to be eternally positive get in the way of his decision-making? Did he think he was such a persuasive guy that Aldridge would never leave? Could he not accept in his mind a negative outcome, so he ignored all signs that portended that negative outcome?

Your argument didn't mention anything about rings, or anything else that wasn't hyperbolic.
Because no one was talking about anyone that had rings, until you brought up pop. (Though Stotts technically has one as an assistant).
If we’re talking about Pop or someone with a long history of success that’s obviously a lot different than situation we’re talking about here.

I made a deal with Gronk Brady and I always honor my bets. I'm not going anywhere.

What a silly post. NO did EXACTLY what we wanted him to, do EVERYTHING he could to get TT to stay. There were VERY FEW people in here who wanted to trade Aldridge.
I'm not sure if you were in that camp. That is much more on TT than it is NO.

I can't believe this Aldridge garbage is even being rehashed once again. It's been about 3 years now and some people have a hard time moving on.

BTW, Denny has been awol for two months now.

Every night I open the S2 main page and I see this thread title with the last poster named. It's always Hoopsjock. Here's how the line looks tonight. Only the number ever changes.

He makes half the posts in the thread, and won't take guff from anyone. You gotta admire his Don Quixotic tenacity in taking on the majority opposed to him. It's his way or the highway.

When he needs help, his 2 O-Live comrades jump in, whatever their names are. I just learned that this poor beaten-up guy Tortured is also from O-Live, but he's not like them. He's their punching bag they brought along. They packed everything they needed.
HoopsJock just might be the best poster in here, well, except for me, of course.
