Republicans are currently clutching their pearls after Schiff cited a news story that a White House official allegedly said any Republican senator who votes against Trump will have his/her head on a pike. He lost me! He lost all the ground he gained and more! Outrage! Outrage!

Because you know they were so moved they were ready to call witnesses and subpoena documents and maybe even vote to convict until Congressman Schiff cited a news story so now there can be no witnesses, no evidence, and Trump must be acquitted.

And I have a bridge to sell you if you believe that.

I want witness's, but Adam Schiff was bloviating with that one.

Not clear what you mean by that. Schiff was discussing a news story on CBS. The 'head on a pike' quote from that report may have been factual, or not (as he mentioned), but the underlying implication - that GOP senators are afraid to step out of line because Trump would attack them - is quite obviously true. Trump has attacked every Republican that has crossed him.

Schiff lies = Impeachment.

That's the total sum of evidence presented, and there is no allegation of any impeachable crime having been committed. We're done here.

Demon Party self-humiliates in Grand spectacle of underestimating the intelligence of Real Americans. So many voters fleeing to more moderate options.

Next up: The Biden/Kerry Trial

I think him stating he doesn't know if it is true or not, while prosecuting a case is political bloviating. I bet he turned off the ones he should be trying to reach with that statement. It's no different than some of the crap that comes out of Trumps mouth. In a regular civil / criminal court there would have been an objection and the judge would have sustained. The whole impeachment process is 100% political.
No way in hell any more are you going to get bipartisan support to impeach a president without the blue dress.
We need more independents/libertarians in congress to bridge the gap the two parties have produced.

Of course he turned them off. Nobody likes to have it pointed out that they are ass-lickers. That was kind of the point, to call them out for being cowardly ass-lickers.

It's no different than some of the crap that comes out of Trumps mouth.

Except that it's true.

What would the objection have been?

We need fewer ass-lickers in congress. Too bad we here don't have the opportunity to vote against any of them.

Then what your saying prosecutor regardless of party could get up in an impeachment trial and simply spew, well we hear that this happened but im not sure? Thats BS. And the objection and you know this would be, your honor this is second third hand hearsay with no hard evidence, and the judge would sustain.
Its common since man, I'm amazed you go along with allowing any prosector to get up and talk about, well the networks are reporting?
Frankly that goes for any side with any case.

As usual, you don't know what you are talking about. You don't need a crime for an act to be impeachable.

The lack of a "blue dress" is the reason for article two of the Impeachment.

Can you ever impeach a President who refuses to present any documents or evidence proving his wrongdoing? Even Nixon and Clinton, under penalty of the court, had to present evidence showing they did wrong.

If you got nothing to hide, you got nothing to hide...

i agree with that.
I just don't think its good for any prosecutor in any case, for shock sake to say "there is a network reporting something Im not sure is true, but Ill throw it out there anyway". That would never go over in any civil or criminal court anywhere in this land.

I understand that. Parties are so polarized now days (more than I can ever remember) it would be hard to impeach any president unless they had hard core evidence and some. Even with that, the senate didnt remove Clinton from office. It all comes down to politics and majority usually rules. If you had more representation of independents, libertarians they could at least even or improve the odds for a non partisan vote.
They are a factor in General Elections and may be again this time around.

Of course, in most court cases there isn't press reporting about how the defense has threatened the jury with retribution if they don't vote to acquit, and there aren't statements from members of the jury before the trial that they have no intention of being impartial. And members of the jury usually don't believe that they will lose their day jobs if they vote to acquit.

The Senate didn't convict Clinton because they didn't feel that lying about sex was worthy enough to convict a President in an impeachment Senate trial. Maybe it was also because he was working on the issue with his wife and his clergy.
Trump is a whole different matter. A whole lot worse and no extenuating circumstances at all. Clinton admitted his wrongdoing and apologized while you'll NEVER get Trump to apologize for anything. This sets Clinton up for possibly not making that mistake ever again while the Trump case sets him up for probably making a similar mistake again.

Clinton lied under oath. And you are right the sex part wasn't worthy enough for impeachment, and either was lying under oath.

Only the lying part was considered in the impeachment of Clinton. However, the lie wasn't considered an impeachable lie by more than 1/3 of the Senators because it was about sex and not matters of State.

My point is that there is so much bad blood between the two parties I not optimistic there will ever be again a bipartisan impeachment. Unless a representation of independents libertarians can help mediate & conciliate common ground and issues and policies. Especially the radicals on both sides would rather fight to the death than compromise.
24/7 news, internet and a take no prisoner mentality, has to be challenged by a group that want compromise and a spirit of working together with bi partisan efforts, that do not breed hate and discourse.

That wouldn't fly is this climate if you have the majority on your side you stand a great chance of skating.

We went out for Korean BBQ last night, Chinese New Years. Went to a newer Korean restaurant in Tanasbourne, Hillsboro. Took our best friends out. Word to the wise, don't go there. Food was okay but far from excellent. Service was not too good, also, although they pretended to fawn over us because my wife's best friend whom I call sister as she calls me brother, is a notable Korean personality in the Korean community. We dropped nearly $200 there but we won't be going back.
We don't eat Korean on the East side except maybe once every 4 or 5 years so can't comment on Korean restaurants over there. We have a couple favorites in Beaverton. All in all, I'd say Korean restaurants mirror American restaurants in that they're all putting out less desirable food than they used to put out.
My 'sister' probably knows the best restaurants of any style, especially Korean, on the East side. She and her husband eat out often and usually at the best restaurants of any genre, their favorites being El Gaucho and Fogo de Chão.
We've eaten twice at El Gaucho and were greatly disappointed in their steaks. We've eaten four times at Fogo de Chão and found them to be okay but not spectacular.
If you want great American steak I recommend either The Ringside on West Burnside or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in downtown near the Hilton. In the old days you'd be required to wear coat and tie but now I've seen people come in in blue jeans as long as you've got a shirt and shoes.
Our favorite Korean restaurants on the West side are Kkoki Korean BBQ on 10325 SW Canyon Rd and DJK Korean restaurant on 12275 SW Canyon Rd.
A note on Korean restaurants. The most common food in Korea, and in my opinion, the most delicious, is Doenjang Jjigae (Korean soybean paste stew) similiar to Japanese Miso soup. In Korea it is always served with clams, probably manila clams, as the only meat. Here in the U.S.A. that has gone away and they now stick bits of beer or even hamburger in it rather than the clams. This ruins it in my opinion. It simply must be served with clams only. Other ingredients are the fermented, cooked and mashed soy beans, tofu, water, jalapenos and slices of zucchini squash. This is eaten with plain white sticky rice which most Koreans mix with their Doenjang Jjigae and eat with a spoon. When you order any kind of Korean main course all kinds of Korean side dishes of mostly different kinds of kimchi accompany. Our side dishes were not too good except for the most common one, Baechu Kimchi (Chinese cabage Kimchi) which was okay. A pickled slices of Korean radish in a sweet and sour liquid and my favorite kimchi, Oyee (cucumber kimchee). You've got to experiment with the different side dishes and see which ones you like and ask for extras of those kinds. Extra sticky rice means extra money, so be aware of that.
The restaurant last night had a large assortment of beers but I didn't really care for any of them. I preferred a Kirin or a Tsing Tao but they had neither. I settled on a Sapporo which was too hoppy for me. Had to leave some of it 'cause I couldn't stand it that much.

Strange seeing a prosecutor off one president in an impeachment trial defend a president in another.

"Shifty", Trump's favorite epithet for Adam Schiff, is a classic anti-Semitic slur. The Least Racist Person in the Country is very fond of such slurs. Some of his supporters have gone beyond the implication. Pastor Rick Wiles, for example, called impeachment a "Jew Coup" against the great Christian president.
